Best Runs in Schladming

Looking to get amongst Schladming's best runs? Here's what the mountain's got on offer.

  • Planai-Hochwurzen Talabfahrt (Red): This long valley run stretches over 6km from the Planai summit right back to Schladming town, perfect for carving laps at the end of the day.

  • Märchenwiese (Blue): A wide, gentle cruiser near the mid-station that's become a favourite with progressing beginners thanks to its consistent mellow gradient.

  • Planai FIS Strecke (Black): The World Cup downhill race course drops nearly 900 vertical metres with proper steep pitches and technical sections that'll test even solid skiers.

  • Schladminger Abfahrt (Red): Running from the Planai summit down to the valley, this varied piste offers open sections and some tighter tree-lined bits that keep things interesting.

  • Hochwurzen (Red): A brilliant intermediate run with stunning panoramic views across the Dachstein massif, wide enough for long carving arcs when the snow's good.

  • Schwarze Rinne (Black): A properly steep mogul field that forms naturally on this challenging pitch near the Planai summit, best tackled earlier in the day before it gets too chopped up.

  • Krahbergzinken (Blue): One of the longer easy runs in the area, winding gently through tree-lined sections with enough width for ski schools and nervous intermediates to feel comfortable.

  • Hauser Kaibling (Red): This cruisy red over on the Hauser Kaibling sector offers consistent pitch and excellent snow retention, making it a reliable choice even later in the season.
