Zauchensee is fantastic for long, wide runs. Everything is amazingly connected by state of the art lifts, restaurants are plentiful on the mountain with excellent traditional friendly Austrian service. And Flachauwinkl is a 2 min shuttle away for the snow park and a whole other side to the mountain. The best part is the Therme Amade public pool & spa in Altenmarkt which is a 15 min bus away. Highly, highly recommend. Your lift pass will also include Flachau and surrounding areas close to Altenmarkt.

Great resort, linked to Flachauwinkl, and the wider ski amadé resorts. Great snow compared to the other resorts nearby, due to altitude and orientation. The runs are long, great for skiing at speed and with some challenges. World cup run is a fantastic route from top to the village. The village is quite small and based around hotels. There can be some queues at times around some lifts, but it's always possible to choose which village lift to take depending on the queues, as they are adjacent to each other. Lots of variety. Can't wait to return.

It is over 40 years ago that I was there almost every weekend, our favorite skiing resort.
The Tauernkar lift was added back in the days and added great slopes to the initial terrain.
I wish I had experienced the access from Flachauwinkl, a valuable addition to go to the resort from the autobahn.

Nice resort with good accommodation options nearby, but probably not one for lovely apres-ski. Runs are all brilliantly maintained, lift are very efficient and the off-piste skiing is pretty good.

Ive boarded at Zauchensee twice, once as my second week on a board and again 16 years later, as a good standard boarder. The resort is well laid out with a large central hub that has plenty of eateries and services. The resort itself isnt massive, but has some really excellent pistes, that are well serviced by a good quality lift system. Really my only gripe with the resort would be the main piste into the centre gets really badly chewed up and is often quite congested and cut up, other than that pistes are excellent and its a really good resort for beginners and more experienced riders.
