Ive boarded at Zauchensee twice, once as my second week on a board and again 16 years later, as a good standard boarder. The resort is well laid out with a large central hub that has plenty of eateries and services. The resort itself isnt massive, but has some really excellent pistes, that are well serviced by a good quality lift system. Really my only gripe with the resort would be the main piste into the centre gets really badly chewed up and is often quite congested and cut up, other than that pistes are excellent and its a really good resort for beginners and more experienced riders.

if you were wanting to describe the ideal small ski village Zauchensee would be it. Situated in a wooded bowl with slopes both sides and a great link to the extensive Ski Amade, it couldn't be better. A small cluster of impressive hotels and a number of traditional eateries in the village cater for all requirements and the family friendly and ski school facilities are second to none if you want to get away from the larger better known resorts. If you throw in a world cup venue ,good altitude and easy and quick transfer from Salzburg , Zauchensee is well worth consideration.

Have been going for years and think its a great resort if what youre after is mainly skiing. Theres tons of runs for every level and some great accesible off piste options. There is not much nightlife though so wouldnt recommend this place if thats what youre mainly going for.

Friendly resort with very little queues. Good off piste available within relatively easy reach if lifts. Will be back

Great resort thats often slightly quieter than the neighbouring Flachau/Flachauwinkl/Wagrain area, and only a 2 minute bus away.

Great resort, overcrowded at busier times but great out of peak season. Lovely runs for all abilities and world cup run is a great feature
