What is a Groomer?
A groomed run or a 'groomer', as it is known colloquially, is a ski slope that has been meticulously maintained and prepared by a grooming machine, also known as a snowcat or a snow groomer. This smooths out the snow surface removing bumps and creating a consistent and even surface for skiing and snowboarding. Immediately after grooming, the grooming machines leave lines in the snow often referred to as 'the perfect corduroy.' Groomed slopes allow for excellent conditions to practise your turns without imperfections in the snow and first groomer tracks are often sought out by skiers looking to achieve perfect carving turns!
