What Skiers Say About Obergurgl-Hochgurgl

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl attracts primarily beginner to intermediate skiers and families, with several advanced skiers noting the terrain can feel limited for a full week without visiting neighbouring Sölden. The most consistent praise centres on empty, well-groomed pistes, minimal lift queues, high altitude guaranteeing snow, and high-quality hotels with spa facilities and half-board options. The Nederhütte is repeatedly mentioned as the main après destination with live music, though reviewers consistently note the resort is otherwise quiet at night with limited bars and restaurants outside hotels. Several users mention the cost is noticeably higher than other Austrian resorts, and a few snowboarders flag numerous flat linking paths as inconvenient.

Great for beginners to intermediates. Quiet with limited/no wait for lifts. Quieter too on the apres side of things, so if that's your thing this probably isn't the resort for you. Night skiing and sledging available too.I recommend getting the wider valley pass to get access to Solden too! Busses are free so it's easy to get around the valley area.

A nicely polished resort. Great hotels and an efficient lift system. Mountain huts are great fun with plenty of music and Tyrolean atmosphere ! For those who want a day off the slopes go to the motorcycle museum which can be accessed by skis or the lift system. Incredible amount of bikes and an interactive theatre where you can experience riding through the pass to Italy. One of the great attractions at Obergurgle is night time skiing which is an absolute joy and a must to experience.Overall a really excellent resort for hotels, tyrolean hospitality, snowboarding as well as skiing and of course Austrian Apre ski !

Obergurgl isnt the liveliest resort - contrasts with Sölden for example - but its within a short bus ride if you fancy that kind of action. Good lift system. Well maintained pistes. Great mountain restaurants. And an excellent range of apres-ski venues, including the infamous Nederhütte. Short transfer from Innsbruk airport. Good bus service, making Hochgurgl and Solden within easy reach. Hotels are all great quality, with excellent food offerings, and lovely spas/saunas etcOne of my favourites ski resorts.

A fantastic family friendly resort, excellent food and wine options for all levels and theres even a Michelin star restaurant in the village now. There are a great selection of hotels and local bars, the mountain huts are all excellent from top to bottom There has been a huge investment in the lift infrastructure meaning queues are rare The snow conditions are usually fantastic as the resort is high and snow sure, we have been returning for over 20 years which speaks volumes about the quality of the resort

Lovely runs for all levels. Very quiet for apres, very few bars and bistros so the bars that do offer this tend to be very busy and overwhelmed. Little to do at nighttime.

Smaller resort, with wide empty pistes making it ideal for intermediates. Advanced skiers could get bored, but option to go to solden for the day for more challenging pistes. Some great restaurants on the slopes for lunch, but apres ski not as lively as the French resorts. Would highly rate the quality of ski hire and hotels, exception service. Our hotel offered a 5 course dinner at night and spa was great

Obergurgl was a fantastic resort with plenty of terrain for all levels. The Neiderhut at the top of the cruisy blue home run is a must for dancing on the tables after a day's skiing. We had a great trip one night on a cable car to a mountain restaurant which was a fantastic experience. We loved the resort and enjoyed a day in Hochgurgl too we went on the bus and skiied back using a network of lifts. Don't hesitate to visit this resort you won't be disappointed

The large area of Hochgurgl-Obergurgl, interconnected with gondolas and ski lifts. Rather spectacular views of the Italian side of the Alps once you get to the top. The lifts are impeccably maintained although with needless pass checking even when you are on the top of the mountain.

I love Obergurgl/Hochgurgl! I have been many times with my family and every time the weather has been beautiful and the conditions have always been amazing. The runs are very well looked after and the ski lifts are really quick and efficient even if it is busy. The runs and ski school are suitable for all abilities. There are plenty of great restaurants to choose from in the town and also on the slopes. Although there arent many apres ski options, the Nederhütte always provides you with a fun afternoon/evening out, serving great food, drinks, and live music. I highly recommend this resort to anyone who is considering going!

Great place, is expensive but very quiet slops that are well kept, and some good apres ski but could do with more apres ski bars on the mountains.
