What Skiers Say About Obergurgl-Hochgurgl

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl attracts primarily beginner to intermediate skiers and families, with several advanced skiers noting the terrain can feel limited for a full week without visiting neighbouring Sölden. The most consistent praise centres on empty, well-groomed pistes, minimal lift queues, high altitude guaranteeing snow, and high-quality hotels with spa facilities and half-board options. The Nederhütte is repeatedly mentioned as the main après destination with live music, though reviewers consistently note the resort is otherwise quiet at night with limited bars and restaurants outside hotels. Several users mention the cost is noticeably higher than other Austrian resorts, and a few snowboarders flag numerous flat linking paths as inconvenient.

Great linked resorts. With other options near by. The final run to the village gets cut up at end of the day. Ski hire was well organised.

Resort was perfect for the group we had which was a mixture of never before to advanced guys. Thoroughly enjoyed the night skiing, and each day ski there were plenty of options for slopes across the valley. With the nightlife, it was okay but nothing too busy which worked fine so it depends if you wanted quieter or a bigger scene. Overall, would absolutely recommend and we will be going again next year

Small ski area with 50 kilometers of slopes. The slopes range from blue to black. There is a great motorcycle museum that can be visited directly from the lift station. The huts, some of which are rustic, offer a good selection of food. Parking is OK, but could be better signposted.

Nice and quiet on the slopes with very little lift queues due to the efficiency of the lifts.Nice groomed runs, but can get windy higher up the mountain. Not a lot of off piste opportunities. Not much in the way of apre, but a nice quiet, family friendly or couples resort.

I loved visiting Obergurgl. As a beginner it has some lovely lower slopes and great ski schools, and wonderful mountain restaurants. The transport is excellent with free bus travel between resorts (Sölden and Hochgurgl) and if you need a day off, then there is some great winter walking. I love the peace and tranquility mixed with traditional skiing and (if you want) some apres at the Barrell Bar or Nederhütte.

Easy access from Innsbruck and a nice welcoming resort with some good hotels (especially if you don't mind paying a bit extra). Access to the piste can be easy if you pick the right ones. Very good variety of pistes that are also well looked after - just a little limited in Obergurgl alone if you want to carve up the miles. My partner found the genuine beginners pistes rather limited too, but the general consensus that it's good for beginners.Hochgurgl adds some some enjoyable terrain, although the gondola across is quite a long slow one - fine if you fancy rest! The mountaintop restaurant advice Hochgurgl is a must-do! It also means you get to do a massive descent right down to the (surprisingly good!) motorcycle museum at the bottom. Some excellent ski instructors too - I did one day group lesson , which you can't get everywhere. It's worth taking the short hop on the bus to Solden (on the same list pass) - I only had one day there but it was quite spectacular with great wide pistes in places.

A great resort to learn how to ski with a really good variety of runs. There aren't too many black runs but plenty of challenging reds.

The hotels in obergurgl are top notch. The best spa I have ever been to before great way to chill after a day on the slopes. Great ski in ski out location. The food and service is very high quality. The only con I would give obergurgl is if you don't have kids the apres ski isn't too much alive, but you can get a ski bus to golden which is very good and lots going on for apres ski. The james bond experience is great and so is the motor museum. If you really wanna experience high class views then the 360 top bar is amazing looking over the dolomites. Finally all the runs in obergurgl are nice wide and overall quiet runs which makes it great to get a lot of runs in. We will be returning.

I have being skiing at this resort for around 9-10 years. It is a wonderful family friendly resort, but also great for early twenties with a nightclub and plenty of apres ski bars within hochgurgl and obergurgl.

Obergurgl is simply the best ski resort I have ever been to. I return every year, to this resort. It is extremely high, which means guaranteed snow. Ski lifts fantastic, some with heated seats! Hotels fabulous. Lovely quiet slopes. Beautiful scenery. Hochgurgl is beautiful too, with an easy to ski to the gondola, which takes you on a fabulous ride straight to it. Fabulous bars on the slopes, serving wonderful food. Dont know how they do it! Apres ski on the slopes, with live bands. Night skiing on Tues evening. Cant fault it.
