What Skiers Say About Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Obergurgl-Hochgurgl attracts primarily beginner to intermediate skiers and families, with several advanced skiers noting the terrain can feel limited for a full week without visiting neighbouring Sölden. The most consistent praise centres on empty, well-groomed pistes, minimal lift queues, high altitude guaranteeing snow, and high-quality hotels with spa facilities and half-board options. The Nederhütte is repeatedly mentioned as the main après destination with live music, though reviewers consistently note the resort is otherwise quiet at night with limited bars and restaurants outside hotels. Several users mention the cost is noticeably higher than other Austrian resorts, and a few snowboarders flag numerous flat linking paths as inconvenient.

Great food. Apres ski at the Nedderhutte also fun.
One day there were only two lifts running which was a little painful. However after having a drink stop, it meant we skied a lot although over the same 4/5 pistes, but they were pretty quiet and we almost had them to ourselves.
We spent a day in Obergurgl using the cross point cable car. We skied most of the area apart from 2 blacks. The only slope that wasnt particularly nice was the bottom of 12 going down to the cable car. Less confident red skiers may struggle.
Overall a lovely area to ski and with it being so high , snow isnt an issue.
Our hotel was fantastic, walking distance to lifts as are most places and if not bus system is great. Ski hire shops good value and all close by.
A standout restaurant for us is the Nederhütte, an amazing lunch and après-ski venue, lively music from Benny and the band, cold beers, great food and fun, crazy welcoming Austrian atmosphere - and then a ski back home!
a visit to the James Bond exhibit at the in Solden is a must. The show memorabilia from the filming of Spectre And the restaurant there is awesome! Expensive but amazing food, service and views, or you can visit the chicken shack on the way down!
Overall, Obergurgl, for our family provides a fantastic blend of skiing, relaxation, and entertainment, been a few times now and we love it!
I would recommend this area to all.
