Good range of slopes from blue to black. Lifts mainly gondolas, few chair lifts. Great skiing when weather fine, but strong winds close the lifts down. Good snow coverage for late season snowing.

This snow sure (even at Christmas) resort is a joy to go to. The people are friendly and patient with children. There are plenty of restaurants in the mountains for lunch and the food is cheaper than France. All DAY ski lessons come as standard so the adults get much more time to explore by themselves. Going to Innsbruck rather than Geneva or the crowded Chambery is so much more relaxed. Rooms in our hotel Lohman were the biggest weve come across in 15 years of skiing the kids room replete with climbing wall and soft play biffing blocks us also a winner oh and the slide that goes from one floor to another.

Obergurgl is a small village at the end of a valley. Very convenient to get to from Innsbruck (around 1.5 hours drive). Being small and at the end of a valley means that not many day skiers venture this far so the slopes remain quiet. This benefits very short or nonexistent lift ques. This quietness along with great quality accommodation makes me return to this village for over 20 years. People do come T that the ski area ( just over 100km ) is a bit small. However, with the ski pass also working in Solden ( 15 min bus ride away) there are infinite possibilities!

Obergurgl is much less commercialised than the big french ski resorts. The runs are very well groomed. You get tons of powder in winter and lots of places to tour up or bootpack to. Best apres ski in the world at the Nederhütte. Probably the best hotel is the Bergwelt among loads of options for luxury or more affordable rooms. Only thing is if you like a huge 3 Valleys type ski resort it is not even close to that size.

Visited Obergurgl a little reluctantly on a couple's ski trip with my wife. As per other reviews, the area is not large and the piste skiing is 'family friendly' .... great for families with younger kids and early intermediates or those that put a nice mountain lunch above challenging skiing. So, for our couples trip it was great. And the best feature is the altitude. With the village at 1900 m and skiing up to 3000 it is high enough to deliver good quality snow all season long. It is a hotel resort with lots of very nice 4 and 5 star hotels with spas and fancy restaurants. Great if that's what you are after. On the down side there are not many bars and restaurants in the village and evening are quiet. Back to skiing... if you are lucky enough to get a fresh dump of snow during your stay the place is transformed. All the fare weather skiers go to the spa leaving all the powder for the relative few who want to enjoy it. There is plenty to be skied without a guide and if you do take a guide out there are some great off piste descents to be had.

Great snow sure resort. People sized, so no danger of missing anything. Ski school is fantastic. The teachers are the best. The village has everything you need to keep you happy. The hunter are fantastic with wonderful food and drinks. Happily many across various slopes. If you have children and they're in ski school (and you are too) everything comes back into the village at the end of the day, so no danger of losing your babies. As a single parent, this was always my big fear. Plus, not too far to carry your own and your little ones skis!

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is a fairly small resort, but there is enough to keep intermediate skiers busy for a week. I went in April, so low down in the afternoons were slushy, but not unskiable. I went with my 8 year old and she made great progress in ski school. The nursery slope area in Obergurgl is really good with an easy button lift and gentle wide slope. Not sure if it was because it was the end of the season, but there wasnt much apres. Definitely a resort I would return to.
