What Skiers Say About Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Obergurgl-Hochgurgl attracts primarily beginner to intermediate skiers and families, with several advanced skiers noting the terrain can feel limited for a full week without visiting neighbouring Sölden. The most consistent praise centres on empty, well-groomed pistes, minimal lift queues, high altitude guaranteeing snow, and high-quality hotels with spa facilities and half-board options. The Nederhütte is repeatedly mentioned as the main après destination with live music, though reviewers consistently note the resort is otherwise quiet at night with limited bars and restaurants outside hotels. Several users mention the cost is noticeably higher than other Austrian resorts, and a few snowboarders flag numerous flat linking paths as inconvenient.

The ponies are beautiful lovely to see the foals.
Grt choice of accommodation
Enjoyed the night skiing after dancing to live band in Nerder hut
Hopefully be a bit better for next time :)
And the Nederhutte is legendary for apres-ski!
Highly recommend to also come back for the hiking in the summer (where you can also see how well maintained the slopes are off ski season. Beautiful mountain meadows as they were protected by deep snow :) ). Have often skied Whistler/Blackcomb, and resorts in the Canadian Rockies - Obergurgl has a very different feel - huge ski terrain with a true alpine village charm. The charm comes from the location, the scenery and of course the Gurgler people :)
Great snow sure village with fantastic accommodation and ski
Facilities.
Ski lifts super fast , new and y crowded even at the busy times of the day.
Well maintained pistes for days of skiing fun.
Not the hardest skiing but ideal for intermediate and beginners with excellent ski school
There are plenty of hotels to chose from and all are of a great standard with the ability to ski in and out at many.
Great accommodation selection although many are hotels with half-board/self catered so restaurant provision in the village isnt great.
The Nederhütte is a must for aprés, and night skiing is a fun addition .
All the hotels are great and the local people are really friendly. Its a safe place for women only travellers too.
It is known for having one the best ski schools in the alps.
Also make sure you visit the Niederhutte for the crazy Apres!!
