What Skiers Say About Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Obergurgl-Hochgurgl attracts primarily beginner to intermediate skiers and families, with several advanced skiers noting the terrain can feel limited for a full week without visiting neighbouring Sölden. The most consistent praise centres on empty, well-groomed pistes, minimal lift queues, high altitude guaranteeing snow, and high-quality hotels with spa facilities and half-board options. The Nederhütte is repeatedly mentioned as the main après destination with live music, though reviewers consistently note the resort is otherwise quiet at night with limited bars and restaurants outside hotels. Several users mention the cost is noticeably higher than other Austrian resorts, and a few snowboarders flag numerous flat linking paths as inconvenient.

The resort itself is compact a lot of ski shops to cater for all of your needs, and a few restaurants, typical ski resort type, some attached to other hotels some not, there is even a Spa shop for those self catering.
Over all a manufactured ski resort, with a bit to do, we were there for two weeks and to avoid getting bored we went to Sölden (free bus and lifts are included on you ski pass) for a number of days, al lot bigger and some wider runs.
As we went for two weeks we got free entry to the 007 exhibition!
Everyone in the resort work really hard to keep the slopes and the village pristine.
If you havent been before please give it a visit.
Limited for easy slopes but lots for intermediates. Lift across to Hochgurgle again more expert runs but also a huge bowl where you can ski your own route down. Great fun. Wish we had tried Hochgurgle earlier rather than just last 2 days. Obergurgl is quite compact but was more than adequate for us. Really enjoyed our week there. Having great snow helped of course.
The Nederhutte has good apres-ski parties and a couple of the bars in town also do but generally the resort is quite quiet and laid back. Good skiing and boarding for beginners and intermediates but not a huge amount for more advanced riders.
The ski school is very good, particularly for private lessons.
Also the Nederhütte is very hard to beat for après!
Most hotels very close to lifts.
Not much for none skiers unless you are in a spa hotel.
