What Skiers Say About Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Obergurgl-Hochgurgl attracts primarily beginner to intermediate skiers and families, with several advanced skiers noting the terrain can feel limited for a full week without visiting neighbouring Sölden. The most consistent praise centres on empty, well-groomed pistes, minimal lift queues, high altitude guaranteeing snow, and high-quality hotels with spa facilities and half-board options. The Nederhütte is repeatedly mentioned as the main après destination with live music, though reviewers consistently note the resort is otherwise quiet at night with limited bars and restaurants outside hotels. Several users mention the cost is noticeably higher than other Austrian resorts, and a few snowboarders flag numerous flat linking paths as inconvenient.

Apres is great here with the Nederhutten in Obergurgl, a busy little place that sells great food, good drinks and the views are sublime.
Ski lifts excellent and efficient so little queuing
Some considerable distance to ski between different areas and sometimes issues with getting back when certain lifts closed due to high winds. Bus between resorts every 15 minutes was great, never too busy. Runs were quiet, even during peak hours.
Would visit again
I stayed in a hotel in obergurgl which had a ski room and lift straight up to the chair lift so super efficient and all the ski lifts had been updated since the previous time I came (10+ years ago).
It wasn't too busy because I went out of school holidays. I can imagine in peak season it could get a bit busy on the slopes.
Great apres, standard drink and food prices for European Alps skiing and fantastic apres! Would highly recommend.
Plenty of great lunch and drink options on the mountain.
It’s not a party place, but the Nederhutte provides excellent apres a few nights a week.
I am an intermediate skier and there are plenty of lovely runs. Not sure I would like to be a total beginner here as some of the link runs are a little trickier.
Overall a wonderful holiday!
