Great resort not too large good value for money and only busy at weekends when locals come up from the town below.

Pila is a fantastic resort with lovely relaxing slopes and wonderful hotels. We stayed up on the Mountain, it was quiet in the evenings for social life, but perfect in the mornings for rolling out of the hotel onto the slopes. The addition of the new gondola to take you right to the top has opened up the mountain for every level of skier now.

Pila is a wonderful resort especially if you are looking for something small and friendly. What it lacks in km it makes up for in excellently groomed pistes, welcoming mountain restaurants serving freshly made, delicious, hearty Italian food and hot chocolate you can stand a spoon in.
The new gondola taking you to The Star at the highest point of the resort in a matter of minutes is excellent for those seeking first lift thrills as well as non skiers and skiers alike looking for lunch with great views and Instagram worthy snaps.
We are lucky enough to have two ski trips per year and despite trying a different resort for one of those trips each year we always come back to Pila for the other trip, we've yet to find another resort that gives us the same wonderful experience for the cost paid.
We've done multiple Christmas, New Year and March weeks and always found the slopes quieter than any French resorts even at peak weeks, and although its purpose built and doesn't have the charm of Austria the stunning views of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn give it's own charm. It's only downside for some visitors would be the lack of later evening Après. The slope side bars mostly close soon after the lifts / slopes do and leave just a few restaurants in the village, all wonderful though. We always stay in one of the small family owned hotels which offer HB so getting to know your fellow guests over the week adds to the experience. Some people prefer to stay in the Roman City of Aosta at the bottom of the mountain which is just a short 20 min ride up in a gondola each morning, there you have an abundance of bars and restaurants and its definitely worth a trip down from Pila if you choose a non ski day / afternoon. The old city walls, church and cathedral are worth the trip down.

Whilst there are hotels and other accommodation in Pila itself we opted to stay in Aosta. There is a fast bubble lift 10 minutes walk from the town centre that carries you from Aosta to Pila in under 20 minutes. Lift pass and ski hire is reasonably priced, compared to France and Switzerland, and whilst the overall ski area is limited there are some challenging blacks and a good array of reds. Powder and bumps can be found between pistes early/later in the day respectively. For the brave you can find some off piste by traversing from higher lift stations. On mountain restaurants are plentiful and food is good (you are after all in Italy). Aosta is the place to stay. Lively, historic and with great restaurants. Accommodation is reasonably priced for town centre hotels. Overall a great experience for those on a budget and not looking to blast the slopes all day long.

Pila is great for beginners and families, with ski in ski out accommodation at high altitude. Italian hospitality and value to be expected. Only 70k of piste but lots of tree lined high altitude runs.

Small resort with plenty of snow making equipment but a lack of water in the reservoirs last autumn limited how much could be generated. Pistes were well prepared but needed fresh snow that arrived the following week. Would definitely return

Loved Pila. Stayed in Aosta which gaves us lots of options for apre ski. The ski resort was ideal for us, who hadn't skied in 25 years. Despite it being holiday time, neither the lifts nor slopes felt overly busy. Plenty of food and drink options on the slopes. I would definitely recommend Pila, certainly for our level.

Fab resort for beginners and experts a like. I was a snowboarder travelling with skiers and we all loved it! Snow park is great and the slopes where quiet - no queuing all week! Put the kids in ski school and they learnt so much by the end of the week. Great food with lots of cafe/restaurant options! Coffee cheap, tasty and plentiful!

Visited with my son who has not been skiing long but thanks to enough gentle and quiet slopes he improved rapidly so that we were able to do some of the more advanced slopes on offer.
Good value and a nice quiet little resort. Would happily return

One of the smaller Italian resorts or though you can use Pila as a base and travel/ski much further afield. Pila itself is great for beginners and progressing intermediates as the slopes aren’t too taxing and in general they are nice and wide allowing for a less stressful experience. Generally good value for money and it is possible to drive to the resort if there are a few of you and you want to avoid flights, although getting up the mountain will require snow chains depending on snow conditions.

Incredibly well groomed slopes. Our first few days were without any fresh snow and you wouldn’t have noticed! Also great for any age, our 8 year old son said it was his favorite resort so far.

I first learned to snowboard at Pila and found the availability of green blue and red slopes fantastic for progression, the size of slopes and ease of lifts help progression along with attentative coaches from ski schools. The food options on resort were not the greatest, maybe i didnt venture to the more expensive restaurants but bugers etc were lacklustre. Staying in the aosta valley meant that you had access to big chain supermarkets for day to day things with a quick gondola up to the resort.

A great resort to just ski, lovely groomed slopes, wide and relatively empty. Busier at weekends with City Italians, but all very pleasant. The new lift meant we could enjoy early morning skiing on a black run with great views. Not a lot of night life unless you stay down in Aosta, which has fast cable car access to Pila slopes. The whole Aosta valley is available if you want to stay longer and vary what you do.

Start of season so not all runs available, but what was open was well groomed. Mostly blue and some red runs but for intermediates it was great.

Great off piste and a cracking set of on piste restaurants for reasonable cost. Run 1 & 2 were dabs to dabble off the edges in the trees
