What Skiers Say About Sauze d'Oulx

Sauze d'Oulx attracts mainly intermediate to advanced skiers who value affordability and access to the wider Via Lattea ski area. Reviewers consistently praise the reasonable prices for food, drink, and lift passes, alongside the friendly atmosphere and quality Italian restaurants. The lift infrastructure is frequently criticised as old and slow, with many noting that connections to neighbouring resorts close easily in high winds. Snow conditions are variable, with lower runs often icy or slushy, though tree-lined runs are appreciated. The town itself is described as charming with good nightlife, though some find it quieter than expected.

Lovely little village in the Italian Alps, good skiing and a few places in the village for Apres Ski but not a loud resort. Good pizza too.

The resort centre was surprisingly low key despite a reputation as a party town. Lots of bars and restaurants to choose from at very affordable prices. We stayed in Jouvenceaux which is an even quieter hamlet down a steep hill from town. Only a handful of restaurants and bars but the food was amazing. Ski passes are cheap compared to flashier resorts and the lift system is good. March tends to be better than Feb for conditions when lower runs make skiing back to resort difficult. Overall, a brilliant option if you want to spend a bit less. And it's Italy so what's not to like.

Went to Sauze in January 2025 for a week. Myself and my partner can both ski but at different levels. I had 5 day skiing lesson s when we went to develop my skill where as my partner was off on all the runs. Unfortunately when we were there more than half the links were closed, however there was still plenty to do. All the runs were freshly groomed for the morning, ski lifts were available throughout and staff were friendly. The food on the slopes was excellent, worthy of the money and filled us up plenty for a couple more hours on the slopes.

A good resort for an intermediate level skier/family. Lovely places to eat and drink on and off the slopes. Coffee for 2 is an added bonus. 6 days on the via lattea pass gets you use of Montgenevre for 2 of those days which is defo worth the visit!

Lovely village with lots of restaurants and bars. Excellent choice of hotels to suit budgets. Ski area good for intermediate level skiers with lots of areas to explore. Many mountain bars and restaurants. Not so good for beginners perhaps although there are nursery slopes and some blue runs.

Took the family here for new year. Kids 4,9. We had an amazing time, despite a lack of snow. They did really well keeping the pistes groomed and snow making. The kids loved ski school and learnt lots of technique. Mum and dad loved the skiing and apres was really reasonable meaning we could eat out on slopes as a family regularly.

Love this resort but sadly the snow is not guaranteed. Good amount of runs across all mountains and very quiet on slopes, but advanced skiers would cover the mountain in a few days.

Having skied in numous resorts, my wife and I visit Sauze D'oulx ever year. It is a wonderful resort with a transfer time of just over an hour from Turin airport. Their are plenty of bars, bistros and restaurants to suit everyone. The old medieval town had lovely quaint narrow streets with various restaurants tucked away. The Milky way ski area is enormous and offers everything for novices to expert skiers. Even when the snow fall has not been great the snow canons ensure adequate snow throughout the season. We recently returned from spending Christmas there and we going again in February.

Sauze is an hour transfer from Turin airport and your lift pass covers Sauze, Sestriere ( Olympic host resort ) and a days skiing in Mon Genevre ( France ). Sauze is great for families with lots of tree lined red runs and blues which take you back to the village centre. Higher up the resort there are more challenging reds and blacks and you can get a chair lift up to Mt Fraiteve 2702m where you can either ski into Sestriere or ski back to Sauze. Sportinia and Clotes lifts take up to the skiing areas and ski school and there are really nice restaurants here with outside tables, deckchairs, cafes, restaurants and music. Most of the lifts have a restaurant nearby and there are lovely bars etc on the pistes. The village has a party vibe with lots of bars with outdoor spaces where people party after coming off the piste. Asietta, Village Cafe and Miravellino have a great vibe and plenty of sports bars in the village. Bar Seggovia is a gem just off the main square. All the main hotels are close to the centre as are the lifts.Really affordable, cheaper than France and Austria and Italian hospitality is excellent. There are several ski hire shops too again all very central. It was recommended to us when our children were 6,7 and 8 and we have probably been 10 times since and taken friends ..give it a try !!
