What Skiers Say About Sauze d'Oulx

Sauze d'Oulx attracts mainly intermediate to advanced skiers who value affordability and access to the wider Via Lattea ski area. Reviewers consistently praise the reasonable prices for food, drink, and lift passes, alongside the friendly atmosphere and quality Italian restaurants. The lift infrastructure is frequently criticised as old and slow, with many noting that connections to neighbouring resorts close easily in high winds. Snow conditions are variable, with lower runs often icy or slushy, though tree-lined runs are appreciated. The town itself is described as charming with good nightlife, though some find it quieter than expected.

There are good variety of runs and you can travel between quite a number of different valleys - including into France. Even with not much snow, the resort had a good variety of runs and which were managed well. The condition of the open runs were really good, with the use of snow cannons when needed. Also, there are some nice, fun runs through the trees with little jibs, without wondering too far away from the main piste. Lots of nice stop offs, whether its just for coffee or lunch. Highly reccomend to all levels

Great little bustling town with friendly locals and fantastic food. We went in mid Jan which could have gone either way but it paid dividends. Not many powder hunters here either so was still finding untouched snow 2 days after a fall

Not many runs open, there was snow so no reason why more cant be open, just feel like the ones running the slopes are lazy.

A great picturesque little Italian resort with some good bars and restaurants but the lift systems and piste management really let it down. The link to other resorts is an extremely slow 2 man chair lift which is really off putting. There is also not much effort to try and ensure all pistes are open within Sauze appear to rarely be in operation. If you are looking for a snow sure resort then I would look elsewhere but if you have a low budget, and dont mind skiing the same runs all week then it would be a great place for you!

Some of the best off piste Ive done, plenty of runs through the trees and big powder. Also very easy to navigate around due to Sportina being very central and easy to get to

We visited Sauze when the snow wasnt at its best to say the least! But thankfully between good piste management & blowers we had a good week skiing on well covered red & black runs in both Sauze & neighbouring Sestriere. The hotel was basic but with good food & even its own Irish bar We were away from the piste a little, but the bus service was very good.
All in, Id recommend for both families & groups to ski here.

Great place to stay, depends where in the town youre staying, we stayed near the bottom so we were near a lift but it was a bit of trek up and down a hill each morning to get to it. Theres a lot of hills to walk up and down to get around the town but its worth it, the old town is especially wonderful. Good selection of places to eat. AVOID THE FOUNDUE RESTAURANT IT IS A SCAM!! Theres good night life, with plenty of bars for apres ski. Prices can be a little steep especially up on the mountain.

The skiing was great, but not all the lifts (&some runs) were open mid week, they were saved for the week end when it got typically very busy.( Maybe it was still early season). We spend a day in neighbouring Montgenevre (France), the runs were better but the food & prices were an shockingly expensive disappointment for poor quality bland food. (Cheese sandwich, 2 coffees , 1x bottle of water ,20+) It showed reminded us what good value the typically freshly cooked sauze d'oulx food is. Large fresh Pizza slice or bowl fresh pasta 2 very large & chocolately hot chocolates.(20 ) At sportina Sauze D'Oulx
Then unwind with a warming. bombardino at the end of the day!

Really lovely resort, good variety of slopes. Family friendly. Most enjoyed the differences between the runs, never felt samey or boring and plenty of mid range runs which meant I could challenge myself between different styles. An early holiday for me so at times I struggled as some runs felt narrow (to me) with lots of skiers whipping by without leaving me room for my turns so I got stuck on heel edge for a few runs but the slopes often drop onto wider areas so I could sort it eventually.

Sauze is a great ski resort with a brilliant apre ski atmosphere. The resort has many runs to choose from and the option to ski to other resorts meaning you dont have to ski the same run over and over. Short lift times and good snow make this one of my favourite resorts

We as 3 families 13 of us in total had a great time . Acommadation was convenient to town and slopes . The town itself was beautiful and had some great restaurants and pubs. The ski area was very varied and extensive lift system was fine also . Unfortunately weather and conditions were not great while we were there but that is not the resorts fault.

Fantastic people, resort is dated and lifts shut with the slightest wind. Neighbouring resorts take too long to get too meaning you will most likely have to get buss back to resort.
But I cant stress enough, the hospitality is fantastic.
