The Skiers' Guide to Sauze d'Oulx

Went with small group of friends - Fun resort, went using weski which found us a very cheap deal that was great value for money. Lift passed covers all of Milky Way area. Great runs with trees and had great powder. Everyone was very friendly. Not much variation in runs (mostly reds). Beautiful town and old town ( much prettier then new purpose built places). A quiet, wholesome resort with some fun lively bars.

We stayed at the Chaberton lodge (hotel and spa) and absolutely loved it. Our package was half board and the food was fantastic including the sushi (this was included in the price at 24 pieces per person for the main meal option)

The room was spacious and warm which was pleasant. The staff were helpful. The spa was a little out dated but generally good at €30 per day as a hotel guest

The hotel had a shuttle bus which would take and pick up from the sportina lift at any time which was AMAZING.

The slopes at sauze were fanastic as an intermediate skier. We had fresh snow which is always great to ski on. The instructor renzo at the ski school (the red one) was superb. He was super knowledgeable and friendly, easy to work with and helped us progress a lot.

Great resort been a few times. Nicely located and can ski to lots of different areas. Sestrierre a must go. Great Italian cuisine everywhere you go.

Good base, plenty of places to go. Good for beginners, couple of lifts never open some need some tlc. But best value for money

Great resort for beginners as plenty of slope options down the mountain and a nice town for food/drinks with shopping options for if skiing becomes a bit much.

Sauze has options to ski over into France using different lifts and skiing and make a day of it and it’s easy to get a taxi back to Sauze at the end of the day.

Plenty options for ski schoo for adults and kids too.

Perfect for families, couples or groups wanting intermediate skiing with a quiet to moderately lively apres scene. Great coffee, wind and food (reasonably priced) too.

Pretty town with good selection of bars and restaurants stunning scenery friendly people lift systems old and slow many were closed when we visited in theory big area but difficult to get around good value especially drinks

Really enjoyed this resort, was relatively cheap too. We also did the coach trip to france which was brilliant. Really recommend.

One of my fav places , easy to ski in and ski out , lovely hot chocolates and lots of places to ski

Very pretty ski town with fab eating out options, sadly a little icy and lacking in snow when we were last there (this is obviously weather dependent and I have been to Sauze before with fab snow conditions). Lift pass gives you access to neighbouring resorts Mont genevre with a great mix of pisted runs

Really lovely resort would definitely go back here. Snow wasn’t great when I went, but that wouldn’t put me off. The town is really lovely great bars and great food and lovely friendly people.

Maybe not the most ideal place for a complete beginner (like I was!), however, the ski school was great.

Extremely family friendly, great snow and was lovely to visit over Christmas.

Mainly blues and reds, great resort for intermediates. 4-person main lift (no gondolas) is walkable from town centre but easier by ski bus which costs €10 for a week. Buy bus pass from a tabacconist before you board! Resort got very busy on the Saturday with 30-40 min queues for some of the lifts. Good snow conditions all week in Dec.

Great resort and great value! Huge amount of skiing area available for all levels.
Need to be able to do reds to get back to the ski resort however!

We went for a week and had a guide/instructor in the mornings on the first 3 days to get to know the mountain. Really nice atmosphere in the whole resort and great variety of terrain - would recommend.

We had a great trip with friends. Lots of cheap pints of the runs and great vibes. We stayed near the ski lift and it didn’t cost the earth.

Sauze is the perfect budget-friendly ski resort for a week long holiday. It is super well connected to other resorts and very easy to ski between Italy and France (your lift pass is also valid for one day of skiing in Montgenevre, France). Majority of pistes are marked red and blue, with a few blacks dotted around, so it is well suited to intermediate and advanced skiers. (I would not recommend the resort for snowboarders due to lots of cat tracks).
Great restaurants and bars in the village, though a little quiet early in the season. Would certainly return!

I would recommend Soux-de-Loux to anyone as I had a great time on my own. Slopes were excellent, so was Apri Ski. The hotel was OK, and had a boot and ski facility which was good. Private tuition was also 1st class. Would recommend to skiers and snowboarders as I met both lots who I ended up skiing with.

I have been skiing all my life and this place has been my favourite. If you want to experience a true ski trip. Sauze Doulx is the place to be!

Nice quiet resort with quite a lot of choice, aprez bars were nice just very quiet, perhaps we went at a quiet time of year. Lifts smooth and efficient. Good conditions.
