What Skiers Say About Morzine

Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

Solid resort with varied options due to Avoriaz and Porte de Soleil proximity. Buses are reliable at height of season, not so much early and late season

Decent resort with long skiable routes into Switzerland, many runs to choose from without skiing the same one twice (tour des portes du soleil will take most of the day especially if you like to stop for drinks and lunch).

Although it's lacking in black runs and open reds, the Swiss wall and off piste make up for it (a little bit). Avoid avoriaz if you don't like navigating ski schools.

If you're in morzine and are looking for affordable tasty food with great service go to Chez Shafty.

Morzine has reasonably priced accommodation but you cant ski in ski out- either bus or walk to lift. Snow not always guaranteed, and if it is not good avoriaz is very crowded.
Food on the mountain is very good range and quality.

Been a few times with different groups but a great spot for a big group of friends with differing levels of experience. Plenty of off-piste and nice gentle runs that end up in the same earlier so you can meet for lunch or already, so no-one feels like theyve missed out on their level of skiing.

Great restaurants and bars with Happy Hours getting a particular shout out. Lots of lifts and public transport to get around to different areas of Port du Solie resort.

I love Morzine as a resort. Its your classic chocolate-box French alps village with plenty of good places to eat and drink and have a few after a long day on the slopes. When the snow is good, this area is lovely to ski in, and there are great places on the mountain for a bite to eat.

Great ski area, with two side to the town, requiring a bus across town. Lifts to get out to the bigger ski area can be very busy in mornings, as is the route back in the afternoon, but once "out" it's a huge area, with runs to suite all levels.

Morzine is lower down in the valley, and quiet spread out, so ski buses essential for outter areas. Sadly they stop running at end of skiing and it means if you are staying too far out, you are not able to get to and from the town later in the evenings, which limits you to taxis.

Great resort for all ages, we go as a large family group with young children learning, some beginner adults and experienced ski and snowboarders. Theres something for everyone and a good central location for the whole ported du sol. Great places to eat etc. not the cheapest place to ski but is an amazing place when the snows in town

I Love Morzine, its a great traditional village with great connections to PDS. It can suffer from being low altitude and poor conditions but on the whole we have been quite lucky - booking fairly last minute helps.

When snow conditions are good I much prefer it to Avoriaz

Theres less accomodation flexibility in Morzine for short breaks but on the whole its considerably cheaper than Avoriaz to stay.

Was overall giving a chilled family holiday feel. The snow when we went wasnt fantastic and the runs got a bit icy, but nevertheless you can ski into avoriaz from morzine and that was very nice with wide runs. Apres was really good and we went to the folly which wasnt too hard to get to and was a great vibe.

Morzine offers an easy access to the slopes being close to Geneva.
When the snow is good the choice of slopes are amazing. Mont Chery on the other side of town being one of my favourites with wide pistes and quiet slopes.
Avoriaz is also a great option when the snow is not so good in morzine. This being the only disadvantage of morzine that it is low down so can suffer snow shortage in bad seasons.
Apres always seems pretty lively in both morzine and avoriaz.

Morzine is a beutiful alpine town perfect for familly trips. There are a lot of activities for children during the day and a huge range of aprés spots. This said, if you are lookong for ski in ski out Morzine may not be the one. While it is possible to ski into the town from the Les Gets side of the resort, the snow cover is unreliable and in my experience runs are often closed. It has to be said that as part of the Portes du Soleil Morzine does give you access to a huge ski area and during a good weather spell offers a great range of crusy tree lined pistes as well as more challenging reds and blacks. Unfortunately due to its lower position and global warming Morzine just cant seem to guarantee the snow anymore.

Amazing resort, have returned multiple times, village is beautiful. Skiing not consistent enough and often have to travel to Avoriaz for decent snow .

This is my first time skiing in Morzine with the family over Christmas. Weve had great fun exploring the different areas of the Port de Soleil area. The weather conditions have been perfect leaving nothing but the best of impressions on us. Pistes are controlled everyday and the snow powder is great carve on. Slopes for all levels with some very long ones to avoid lifts all the time. On the lifts, they are relatively old compared to other resorts. No wind shield and are low down when you sit on them however that being said we have not waited longer than 5minutes for one which is amazing!
Love Morzine village. It has a variety of shops and restaurants with plenty to do if you dont want to ski that day - walks, ice skating etc.
would reccomend for all skiers as theres something for everyone.

Easy to access via Geneva airport with short transfers and great transfer options.
Family friendly with plenty of beginner/intermediate runs and friendly ski schools.
Apres ski options to suit everyone (including live bands/djs).
Not always the best snow due to it not being the highest altitude resort but with access to Avoriaz, theres options for worst case scenario.
Just avoid in January manuary if youre a group of females!

Great town - great apres and lots of restaurant options. Perfect for a few days away as not too far from Geneva airport compared to other options. We went in March when the snow wasnt great down in the resort but the bus network is great and its really easy to hop over to Avoriaz for some other runs higher up and a quick visit over the border to Switzerland. Good areas for beginners too. Plus points for easy access to Folie Douce!
