What Skiers Say About Morzine
Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

Although it's lacking in black runs and open reds, the Swiss wall and off piste make up for it (a little bit). Avoid avoriaz if you don't like navigating ski schools.
If you're in morzine and are looking for affordable tasty food with great service go to Chez Shafty.
Food on the mountain is very good range and quality.
Great restaurants and bars with Happy Hours getting a particular shout out. Lots of lifts and public transport to get around to different areas of Port du Solie resort.
A wide range of runs for the more advanced skier to the beginner.
Ski school alternatives to ESF are great.
Great choice of accommodation types for all .
Apres good. Ski/board hire good.
Morzine is lower down in the valley, and quiet spread out, so ski buses essential for outter areas. Sadly they stop running at end of skiing and it means if you are staying too far out, you are not able to get to and from the town later in the evenings, which limits you to taxis.
When snow conditions are good I much prefer it to Avoriaz
Theres less accomodation flexibility in Morzine for short breaks but on the whole its considerably cheaper than Avoriaz to stay.
When the snow is good the choice of slopes are amazing. Mont Chery on the other side of town being one of my favourites with wide pistes and quiet slopes.
Avoriaz is also a great option when the snow is not so good in morzine. This being the only disadvantage of morzine that it is low down so can suffer snow shortage in bad seasons.
Apres always seems pretty lively in both morzine and avoriaz.
Love Morzine village. It has a variety of shops and restaurants with plenty to do if you dont want to ski that day - walks, ice skating etc.
would reccomend for all skiers as theres something for everyone.
Family friendly with plenty of beginner/intermediate runs and friendly ski schools.
Apres ski options to suit everyone (including live bands/djs).
Not always the best snow due to it not being the highest altitude resort but with access to Avoriaz, theres options for worst case scenario.
Just avoid in January manuary if youre a group of females!
