What Skiers Say About Morzine
Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

Ski school is well organised and most instructors are lovely. Not many racing opportunities but the main courses are good and all are different from one another. In a lovely town and Avoriaz is just a bus ride away if you are wanting more variety, but at the cost of being busier
Overall a lovely place with lots of amazing views and slopes
Due to being quite lot can often not have a lot of snow but Avoriaz nearby (free shuttle bus) is always open.
A great spot for groups of friends who want a little less carnage than the newfangled aprés carnage you might find in Val Thorens or Tignes, but still having a great nightlife and bar scene.
Best times to go are slightly later in the season (late Jan through to late Feb is a good shout) to guarantee snow coverage - there are few places better than Morzine on a bluebird say when the snow is thick and the sun is out.
crossing traffic at speed. Even blue runs were difficult in parts and I usually use reds and blacks. We used higher slopes as lower ones were lacking snow.
The resort was full of families and so assume, they are well catered for.
There's a wide selection of bars and restaurants in resort, with many offering vegan options. Advise booking in advance.
Beware visiting bars on the slopes at lunch time as many will only serve full lunches and refuse entry if wanting only drinks/snacks.
Overall a decent resort if going out of high season. It feels like it's needing more investment in lifts/piste grooming/safety signs.
The ski area including ports du soleil has access to Les Gets and Avoriaz although getting back at the end of the day can be a rush. Many winding runs below the tree line make for good easy cruising. The highlight for advanced skiers would be the Nyon and Chamosierre areas which are higher up. The biggest downside is late season it is not snow sure and rarely has heaps of fresh snow. Still good for intermediate level!
Had an amazing holiday here and cant wait to return again very soon!
