What Skiers Say About Morzine

Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

Morzine is a great resort however we had to go in half term and the slopes were very busy! Other than this I would recommend.

Great for all level of skiers and boarders! The extended pass gets you sooo much mountain to explore and theres something for everyone!
Off the piste are some well seasoned routes and I never felt unsafe.
The stash is SO MUCH FUN to play around in with friends!
Also being vegan, morzine has so many options, and were not talking just bean burgers, but full on vegan menus items! Above and beyond compared to many other French resorts Ive been to!

Lovely place, good for earing out and drinking, more on the expensive side. Not as family friendly as other resorts. Lifts very slow, however great skiing and overall a good resort.

We were pretty disappointed when we arrived in Morzine to see no snow at all(mid Feb) but learned on the first day with one gondola ride we were straight into Avoriaz where the snow had remained.
The Portes Du Soleil resort was good, plenty of runs, plenty of bars/restaurants to stop off at.
As an intermediate skier I had trouble the first few days with some of the blue and green slopes, as they were being used so much and not being groomed enough, moguls were forming even on some greens. I saw some beginner groups really struggling with this too.
The resort was overcrowded, the slopes near Avoriaz were ripped up before lunch time. However if you took the lifts to the top and went down the Swiss side of the resort, it was much quieter, seemed better groomed, and was a much more enjoyable time.
One of the days there was a big dropping of powder the night before, and this made for fantastic skiing, once you could get up the slopes that is. There were far too many people on the mountain, and half the lifts were closed until well past lunchtime, meaning a 45 min wait in a line (people just shoving around to try get to the front) to get up the mountain. This day alone meant we are very unlikely to return, just down to the poor management of the lifts, and no information being given as to how long until lifts would be opened, could be 10 minutes, could be 2 hours.
Morzine as a town was great though, lots of places to eat, drink, shop. Easy gotten around, the town was fantastic!

Its not been the best snow this year, despite that, the resort has gone above-and-beyond to keep as many lower runs open for as long as they could! Massive credit to them for that!

Morzine is a part of the Portes du Soleil region, extending across to Les Gets, Avoriaz, and over into Switzerland. Weve skied here six-years running, and STILL discover runs wed missed before!

Lifts are good - there have been a few new six-person lifts built for this season. One bottle-neck is Super Morzine to Avoriaz chair, the Proclou Lift, which often has a larger queue. They do need to address that!

Morzine itself, is vibrant, with fabulous accommodation, a huge range of retail and ski-hire shops, and a huge choice of bars and restaurants, some with live music!

Fingers crossed, next years snow is abundantbecause were already booked!

Morzine is a great resort for all abilities, with a lively resort centre, great local skiing and easy access to other ski resorts. Shuttle buses run regularly to Avoriaz which is handy.

There are a number of good restaurants in the resort center, with great bars for a younger crowd.

The chalet options are really good, we stayed in Croc Blanc 4 Saisons and the hosts were fantastic.

Super resort. Great selection of everything, family friendly but with a nice mix of apres and non skiers activities. Pistes are maintained brilliantly with a huge area to ski in.

5 star resort if you pick the portes du soleil lift pass. Get immediate access to 3 class resorts from accommodation in Morzine. Skiable access to more resorts via avoriaz. Ski pass value for money is unbeatable, access to 600km (largest globally) of slopes for a fraction of the cost of large high-altitude resorts.

Quite low so snow can be unreliable late season. Off piste suffers because of it. Better in avoriaz where the altitude is higher.

As a ski instructor who has been to the U.S. (Tahoe), Canada (whistler) and Japan (Niseko), Morzine (+ portes du soleil) trumps them in terms of variety.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great holiday.

Short transfer from Geneva too, which you cant forget about, an hour and a half tops. Travel time is a minimum, which means more skiing!

A lovely family friendly resort where there is plenty of opportunity for endless exploring in the Porte du Soleil region, especially given the ability to ski into Switzerland. Beautiful town with lots of options for bars, cafes and restaurants, on and off the mountain. Plenty of English speakers in all shops, so communicating with locals is easy as the town attracts a lot of British tourists. The groomed runs first thing are beautiful for skiing, especially on piste skis that allow for easier carving. However, it does bring the crowds meaning the runs can get skid off very quickly during the day, resulting in moguls and busy runs from mid morning onwards.

Loved how efficient all the lifts were! But busy getting to the top one day, but thats a fresh pow day and was to be expected, loved that nobody dares to go on half the powder, so off piste runs are beautiful and connect with reds and blacks perfectly!

Morzine itself is okay but its ski area is fantastic. Avoriaz has a huge range of runs and off piste. Its got really interesting terrain parks for all levels and has a good apres with Folie Deuce.

Morzine itself is very low so not a good one if its going to be above freezing temperatures. Also the town is big but quite spread out.

Morzine itself is a decent base but I probably wont stay this low again. If I come back to this ski area I will stay in avoriaz.

I really enjoyed my experience at Morzine. I was there for a week and my chalet was amazing. All the runs were great. Was lost only once. Awesome food and restaurant with great variety. Awesome apres ski and a great night life. There was live music in two nights. I had a great off pieced experience with many opportunities with lots of different difficulty range. I had a great time one thing that could be better was a lack of nursery runs. All in all good though. 100% recommend.

Morzine is a low level resort unfortunately resulting in mixed snow conditions throughout the year. Nevertheless the town boasts fantastic selections of restaurants, hotels and shoppping options including retail shops. The two main chair lifts in the centre provide guests to excess the areas of Avoriaz and Le Gets (Pleney for Le Gets and Super Morzine for Avoriaz areas). A bus service also provides service to the above areas for free with your area ski pass. Also all capabilities of skiers/Boarders are well suited with a fantastic variety of pistes, over a huge ski area which combines three ski areas. Also Apres in the local bars and clubs will suit all tastes, and restaurants and breweries are a plenty in this buzzing town.
