What Skiers Say About Morzine

Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Morzine is fanatic for those who love the snow but also arent a fan of ski in and out. Huge shoutout to Simply morzine for the excellent chalets! And Komodo kitchen for the best post ski food

I loved my time at morzine but the town itself was very expensive as they knew the tourists would have to pay the price because they have to

Morzine is a great place for a Ski holiday. You can choose a full area pass of just a cheaper, local area one if youre still learning. Access to the mountain is easy, with a lift right over to Avoriaz side as well as lifts taking you to Pleney, Nyon and Les Gets areas. Also a free bus network that runs regularly through the season.
Plenty of places to hire your kit for all levels and preferences. Lots of great ski and board schools, ESF and smaller independent ones (snowboarders try and book with Mint)
Theres plenty of off piste and powder areas to be found. Keep an eye out from the lifts - especially around the Lindarets bowl!
Apres is exceptional. Recommend Happy Hours bar at Ardent, Tibetan and Cavern in town.
Favourite place for trafitional Savoyards food- Le Coup de Coeur - booking advised. Lots of different accom types. If youre on a more budget tour, try Hideout Hostel.

A fabulous base to ski the extensive area of Portes du Soleil including the lovely Morzine, which oozes with character, some superb restaurants, bars and some great shopping.
The Super Morzine ski lift whisking you off to the huge ski area of Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel, Les Gets.
Pistes are well groomed, mountain restaurants are plentiful and reasonably priced and full of alpine charm.
I love this ski area, and nowhere near as expensive as other parts of the French Alps

Located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area of with access to its massive 650km of skiable domain you will find pistes for every level. Morzine is a great town for Apres ski and linked with Avoriaz with an equal Apres reputation. The resort has a large British following and a great English speaking ski school located there called Ski With Ease. Les Gets is directly linked with Morzine from the other side which has wide pistes which are great for carving.

Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz is a fantastic ski area. Super easy to get to, short transfer time from Geneva airport. Morzine is well positioned in the valley, transport around the resort is easy with a free bus around town bringing visitors to the main ski lifts. The skiing is superb with 100s of kilometres of pistes on either side of the valley, on one side the high resort of Avoriaz where you can ski over into Switzerland, and Morzine/Les Gets on the other side, the Portes du Soleil area is massive. Plenty of beginner areas and slopes, and plenty of challenging pistes for more experienced folk. There's plenty of restaurants and bars in town, children's entertainment, ice skating, cinema, pool, ice hockey throughout the season and activities for non skiers, walking, spa, paragliding etc. There's plenty of places in town that cater for vegetarians and vegans too. Accommodation is available for most budgets and there are good options for hotels, catered chalets or self catering apartments. One negative is that Morzine is quite low, so it can rain a fair bit in the town, but this usually means snow up the hill. Sustainability and environmental initiatives are increasing in the area which is great.
