What Skiers Say About Morzine
Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. The skiing around Morzine mostly intermediate. More challenging skiing to be found in nearby Avoriaz and over into Switzerland.
Part of the vast Port du Soleil ski area linking a number of ski resorts and countries.
Morzine’s achilles is it is low lying and snow can be marginal. This means need to go up to Avoriaz, which can lead to overcrowding and queuing at the old lift out of Morzine.
A big ski area which means that you never get bored of the same old runs.
Efficient lift system so the queues are not as big as they once were.
A great place for a holiday with family and friends.
The wider port du soleil pass means you get access to a wide range of slopes for when you decide that youve covered enough on the Pleny/Les Gets side. The variety for beginners is a little more limited but theres a good mix for those with more experience.
Snow cover has been mixed in some years as the resort is a little lower that others but it hasnt stopped us enjoying ourselves.
The Town and village has a good mix of restaurants and bars - just make sure you keep an eye on the super morzine timings if youre planning on staying in Avoriaz for a long lunch
I enjoyed the break our hotel was very nice, Le Petit Dru with both indoor & outdoor swimming pools & Spa suite.
I think earlier in season the Morzine is a good destination
Lovely little town, plenty for all to do.
The Luge Alpine Coaster is great fun.
If plan your dates we'll you may even be lucky enough to catch the local ice hockey team in action.
