What Skiers Say About Morzine

Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

Not all runs were open due to warmer weather. Still great fun though. Avoriaz folie douce is perfectly placed to visit before skiing back down to get the lift to morzine

I went on a trip skiing with my twin teenage boys, a daunting prospect as both were first time skiers. The teaching classes were fun and engaging and the boys loved it. Eating out was quite an expensive affair but there were some great food on offer.
Overall a great experience, the slopes not too busy and enough to keep the boys entertained.

Easy like to Avoriaz and into the full Porte de soleil area. Really enjoyable runs and lovely alpine village. Lots of variety for food and regular shuttle bus links to the various lifts - would go again!

Really enjoyed skiing in Morzine, variety of runs and you can get to Avoriaz really easily to access all the slopes over there. Plenty of places to eat in the village and different acommodation options to choose from, would definitely ski here again, only drawback is probably doesn’t get as much snow as other places as it’s a bit lower

A big group of fifteen having a true whale of a time despite different abilities and boarders/skiiers. Amazing food and fun accomodation even though book last minute. Such fun!

I visited with friends in March 2025 as well as having gone with family as a child. Morzine is one of my favourite resorts as it offers something for everyone. Whether it be apres for young adults and adults or simple quiet runs for kids and beginners it’s the ideal place to visit. Due to the large ski area available and being able to ski over into switzerland I found that the queues for the lift were not too bad at all given the popularity of the resort. Also the free transport to get to avoriaz is very helpful.

We stayed in the quiet area of Les Prodains between Morzine and Avoriaz for 3 nights in January. Leaving Luton on the first flight to Geneva you can get three and a half days skiing in (providing EasyJet get the de-icing sorted promptly!). The Prodains Express lift gives good access to the slopes above Avoriaz and into Switzerland including the Swiss Wall (if that’s your thing) and when we were there you could ski all the way back to the hotel in the evening. It’s not the place to be for nightlife as it’s very quiet although skibuses run regularly into town. We loved it and are returning in January!

Morzine is a great resort to stay in as you have two sides of the mountain to choose from giving you options depending on the conditions. Lots of options for apres and great restaurants. There’s a folie douce in Avoriaz if you want to party on the slopes. If you stay in the town both lifts are walkable and if not there’s free bus shuttles all day. Great resort for beginners and experienced skiers

We go back to Morzine regularly as we live the vibe, great restaurants and little authentic shops in the town (the fromage is a favourite!) while the snow isn’t as heavy here anymore, you can easily go up to Avoriaz or Le Gets for better snowy conditions, plus plenty more fantastic places for apres ski stop-offs.

A really lovely resort for both groups and families. We stayed in Morzine but also spent time up in Avoriaz which gave diversity to the week. We went in March and with Morzine being a little lower the snow quality wasn’t great but it didn’t stop us having a brilliant time. Really lovely staff in all the bars and restaurants and things ran smoothly all week.

Porte du Soleil was a fantastic resort. Stay in Morzine to get access to both sides of the gorge. Avoriaz for après and Swiss wall!
Les gets for almost ungroomed quiet skiing.
