What Skiers Say About Morzine

Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

Closed due to lack of snow in December. Resorts its self has wide range of activities, including ice skating, hockey, plenty of restaurants and bars. Overall a great place to ski with family and friends.

Great base for the Portes du Soleil with quick access to the Avoriaz glacier and tree runs in Les Gets. Relatively cheap accommodation options in a fully functioning year-round town meaning good restaurant, bar, supermarket and non-ski leisure activities.

With its short transfer times, bustling town and central links to a vast variety of slopes around the Portes Du Soleil area, Morzine has a lot to offer. While the area isn’t the highest it benefits from “lake effect “ snowfall from Lac Leman and the grooming and snowmaking is generally good. The town is growing far more rapidly than the lift system so even quiet weeks can be a challenge for the impatient.

Always loved Morzine for not being a purpose built ski town. Being low down though you have impressive tree runs but often lack of snow in the town. Home runs are always maintained though.

Great ski area when going over the Avoriaz side. Morzine ski area is quite low. The runs on that side are ok at best. On the Avoriaz side it is amazing! The Suisse Wall is one hell of a challenge but is worth the go. Bars in Morzine are really good. Found a coffee shop that was a late bar at night that was awesome!

Good value resort with fun après ski. Access to huge ski area including the amazing Swiss Wall. Can lack snow as Morzine itself is a bit low altitude.

We had a great couple of days in Morzine. A variety of accommodation options are available for all budgets and there is a good selection of restaurants available. We enjoyed the various options that there were for skiing as we were only there for a few days we were able to buy days passed for the Portes du Soleil and Les Gets. The slopes were busy and there was a bit of a queue in the morning but no more than other similar sizes resorts we have been to.

Great resort for easy access to the Alps, only an hour from Geneva and loads of affordable transfer options. We love Morzine, plenty of places to eat out and good mountain restaurants, and you can make the most of the local resort or the bigger Portes du Soleil area. As Morzine resort is quite low altitude, if the conditions aren’t good you can get a lift or a bus/gondola to Avoriaz which is much higher so there are always lots of options. Be sure to check out the Bec Jaune and Hideout for food/drinks - great to have different food options for when you are all cheese and hammed out!

Morzine is a great resort. For all round levels of Skier and Snowboarder. Something for everyone, super Apres a Folie Douce off course. Nice town in the mountains Vibe. Can catch an Ice Hockey game, if your there at the right time. Ski into Switzerland to get a Fondue. Cannot recommend highly enough. Avoriaz on your doorstep too

Really great resort with good links to neighboring ski areas such as Les gets, Avoriaz and chatel as well as the Swiss side of the portes du soleil. When the snow coverage is good the ski area feels enormous. However due to the low altitude of the town itself the snow at the bottom of morzine can be thin or in some cases non existent at some times of the season.
The apres ski in morzine is fantastic with really good bars and food options. The town is lovely to wander around with lots of artisanal shops selling products like local honey or chocolate as well as a fantastic market on certain days of the week if you’re taking a day off the slopes.
Overall having been to morzine skiing twice in the last two years and having been lucky enough to get great snowfall each time I couldn’t recommend it enough as a ski destination as well as a summer holiday option as well.

Solid all rounder resort. Quick transfer time so you can be on snow by early afternoon if you get an early flight to Geneva. Brit friendly. Good linked area with Les gets AND the option to head avoriaz side very easily. If you’re in to parks and boarder cross etc then avoriaz is more your cup of tea. Les gets side SUPER family orientated. Great range of places to eat and drink £ wise. Good bus and lift systems mean it’s never too hectic to just get up mountain.
