What Skiers Say About La Plagne

La Plagne attracts primarily beginner and intermediate skiers, with families and mixed-ability groups featuring prominently. Users consistently mention the vast ski area and extensive blue and red runs, plus lift-linked access to Les Arcs via the Paradiski pass. Snow reliability is frequently praised due to high altitude, and the lift system receives positive remarks for efficiency outside peak times. The resort is described as family-friendly and quieter than some alternatives, though multiple reviewers note that nightlife and après options are limited compared to livelier resorts. Queues and crowded pistes are mentioned during school holidays and at certain bottleneck lifts, particularly around Plagne Bellecôte in the afternoon. Food quality on the mountain is generally well-regarded, though prices are noted as high.

Even though I visited la Plagne in January when there had been no Snowfall for a few weeks, the pistes were well maintained and not too icy. Lots of wide open blues and reds which weren't too busy and lift queues moved fairly quick and it's a huge area to explore. Après was fantastic every day and the clubs in Plagne Bellacote where I stayed were great fun.

La plange centre is a great little resort, great access to lifts and plenty of options for food. However, the food type options were limited with lots of local cuisine restaurants, which is amazing for a couple of night but gets a bit samey.

Local boulangerie is amazing and there are a fair few options for skiing alternatives, there is a cinema, paragliding, sled runs and even the bobsleigh if you are feeling brave.

Pista management and lifts were really good with very few lines in January, but thos may be different in peak season and around Christmas.

Worked in La Plagne for many seasons and whilst it is marketed as a family friendly resort, the amount available to those who prefer backcountry is endless. Unlike some resorts where they are renowned for their backcountry (LAP being regarded as family friendly resort) means it that La Plagne does not get tracked out as quickly.

More the 60% above 2000m means good snow quality even on poor snow years!

Limited Apres, but if you know where to go it is still good.

Always somewhere I would head back to!

It was a great trip with friends and we would definitely visit again. Would be great if there maybe were more restaurant and bar options for dinner, so we mostly cooked in. Other than that, really enjoyed the atmosphere and apres!! And of course.. the skiing!!! Fab time!

Great for families!
I’d happily go back to Belle Plagne, especially with kids. It’s compact, car free, and everything just works – ski school is easy, getting around is painless, and ski in ski out makes life simple. It feels calm and family focused without being boring. Food options are decent rather than memorable, but fine after a day on the slopes. The wider La Plagne network gives loads of choice for different abilities. The only real downside was the snow. We could definitely have done with more, especially on lower runs, and off piste was pretty limited. Snowmaking helped, but conditions held it back slightly.

Massive ski area, quieter slopes than Val or 3 valleys, great off piste. Only a few options for apres on the slopes, but they’re pretty good.

Stayed in la plagne in a catered chalet as a group of 9. Mixed ages from 9 to 44 and mixed abilities. Wonderful ski school, lots of area to cover, slopes well maintained even with very limited snow fall. Lots of different category slopes for our party with beginner skiers to advanced. Great apre atmosphere at la bergerie and lots of great places to eat. Accommodation was amazing at catered chalet. Highly recommended!

La Plagne is a great area to ski, if you have time (no children) you can get access to Les Arcs also.
In busier times try to avoid coming down to bellecotte until you need to. This is where lots of lifts meet.

Good selection of runs for all levels. Variety of on slope restaurants. Can be queues in la plagne centre but do tend to clear quickly. Very efficient lift from Bellecote. Dont like bottleneck around above Belle cote. Nice tree runs on route down to Montchavin.

We visited La Plagne for the first time as our daughter was working a ski season out there. We usually go to Tignes. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation which was actually better than we expected. We were close to the slopes and could ski back to the door down a side path. The slopes were a very pleasant surprise. Lots of slopes for intermediate skiers which were in good condition. Lots of slope options and lifts too. It was easy to navigate around the lifts and slopes. We liked the fact that there were lots of mini villages you could ski too and stop off for lunch and drinks, our favourite was Bellevue. Prices were similar to Tignes I.e. expensive. Good choice of restaurants and bars with cheaper options available. A good range of supermarkets
and gift shops so you could get everything you needed. We used the buses and the gondolas to get around which were frequent and well maintained. Overall a really good resort and we are so pleased to have found it. We will hopefully soon be back!

Very family friendly resort, good skiing with lots of blues and reds but not much blacks other than the non groomed runs. Would recommend for intermediate skiers

Stayed in a lower town (I forget the name) but had a fabulous time for a long weekend of skiing. Would highly recommend. Snow was a bit patchy lower down but the red and blue runs were great for a desk rat that only goes skiing every few years. Atmosphere on the slopes was cheerful and friendly.

La plagne is a lovely place and plenty of good runs and lifts connecting the various resorts.

The downside was the lack of food choices, you had to book at least a day or two in advance, and even then the food was not the greatest and over priced. Also, no bars or restaurants had any heaters outside to drink in the early evenings, which was bizarre as the pubs inside were tiny.

The other downside was there was dog poo everywhere, no one picked up after their dogs!

I loved the skiing as a first timer, and the runs were great, plenty of family friendly runs as well as more advanced, but not sold on the resort away from the slopes.
