What Skiers Say About La Plagne
La Plagne attracts primarily beginner and intermediate skiers, with families and mixed-ability groups featuring prominently. Users consistently mention the vast ski area and extensive blue and red runs, plus lift-linked access to Les Arcs via the Paradiski pass. Snow reliability is frequently praised due to high altitude, and the lift system receives positive remarks for efficiency outside peak times. The resort is described as family-friendly and quieter than some alternatives, though multiple reviewers note that nightlife and après options are limited compared to livelier resorts. Queues and crowded pistes are mentioned during school holidays and at certain bottleneck lifts, particularly around Plagne Bellecôte in the afternoon. Food quality on the mountain is generally well-regarded, though prices are noted as high.

The whole area has some great skiing particularly for beginners and intermediates.
The grooming of the pistes is to typical French standards which is definitely not as good as Italian or Austrian standards.
France is also very expensive to eat out but the food is delicious in the mountain restaurants.
Apres ski is good, La Bergerie was fun.
Great ski school experience with ESF as a beginner, lessons averaged around 7-8 people but they did a great job moving people between groups to keep the range of ability close.
Belle Plagne has everything you need whether you’re self catered or board (two well stocked SPARS). A couple of relaxed bars and a bowling alley that showed sports every night.
Runs were well groomed every day. Parts of the resort were prone to being very busy in the afternoon (Roche De Mio in particular), you’ll benefit from some local knowledge around what runs are best at each part of the day.
Lifts were efficient. And outside of the afternoon rush you’re unlikely to queue for a lift (we were there outside of UK school hols but it was holidays for one of the French zones).
Easy to get across to Les Arcs as well! Highly recommended!
Ski runs have a good variety of difficulty with plenty of good off piste on offer.
The Vanoise express also opens the ability to travel to neighbouring Les Arcs for even more ski runs and dining options.
La Plange also connects with Les Arcs which offers even more high quality slopes to ski on.
The only downside to skiing over New Year is that the lifts and slopes are very busy! (as you would expect)
A top resort I would happily go to again.
La plagne 1800 lacks a little of the party atmosphere but is advertised more at families anyway with burgerie nearby on an easy blue run.
I will definitely be returning in the future when my daughter is old enough to start skiing.
The apres is top quality as is the slopes, lifts and atmosphere. The incredible views in every direction means that for my mother who no longer skis, she has plenty to enjoy otherwise.
