What Skiers Say About La Plagne

La Plagne attracts primarily beginner and intermediate skiers, with families and mixed-ability groups featuring prominently. Users consistently mention the vast ski area and extensive blue and red runs, plus lift-linked access to Les Arcs via the Paradiski pass. Snow reliability is frequently praised due to high altitude, and the lift system receives positive remarks for efficiency outside peak times. The resort is described as family-friendly and quieter than some alternatives, though multiple reviewers note that nightlife and après options are limited compared to livelier resorts. Queues and crowded pistes are mentioned during school holidays and at certain bottleneck lifts, particularly around Plagne Bellecôte in the afternoon. Food quality on the mountain is generally well-regarded, though prices are noted as high.

I visited La Plagne this January. It was the first time I’ve stayed in this resort. I enjoyed the variety of runs and terrain. We also enjoyed the wide access of ski area which meant that you could ski lots of different runs. Overall had a lovely week with good snow!

We had an amazing time in La Plagne for my 40th. Our 3rd visit. We love the runs and still haven't managed all of them. Great restaurants and bars. Can't wait to go back.

As a fairly new skiier we chose la Plagne for the easy access to green and blue runs. The hotel we chose was ski in/ski out right in the middle of Plagne Center which was straight onto a blue slope and there was very easy access to a lot of other nice beginner slopes from the lifts here, or very easy transport across to the other areas of the resort where there were also some long blue runs which were not as busy with ski schools etc. We aren’t huge party goers but there were several bars around, although the resort was much quieter and more family orientated than some of the other areas in the Alps we have been to in the past. There is a huge amount of slopes to explore for all levels of skiier there, and there is also the option to ski across to Les Arcs if you wanted further options to explore however this wasn’t something we got round to doing as there was plenty in and around La Plagne for us.

This is a great family friendly resort, mainly self catered apart hotels. There is not much in the way of apres ski but la bergerie is the best place for this. Eating out is around €20-30 for a main, though there are cheeper take away options.
Ski school was well run and the instructors were friendly and spoke both French and English.

Just spent 4 days in la plagne staying in montalbert resort. Montalbert side of la plagne had much quieter runs then la plagne. Perfect for beginners looking to improve their technique. However we loved the runs from here to la plagne and covered so much distance in a short time. I'm a intermediate skier with beginners confidence skiing with my husband who has loads of confidence and enjoys the reds. La plagne offers runs where we both start off together, he then pops off one way and we meet back up, half way down and finish the run together perfect.

Some of the slopes became a bit crowded, with the inevitable maniacs skiing like Olympic downhill racers on blue runs. I was in a ski in ski out hotel which was a special treat. I was disappointed with shopping options as I could not find any special chocolates to take home to my wife. The shops just sell ski clothes and equipment or tourist tut, resort souvenir mugs etc.
I was disappointed not to see more convenient restaurants on the slopes. There were some in inconvenient locations but not lie Courchevel pr Alpe d’Huez.

We have enjoyed staying in La Plagne Centre with our young family for the last 2 seasons. Ideal for children. They LOVE Buffalo Park and Buffalo kids for fun skiing! Lifts work well. We’d never been to La Plagne before and we returned for the second year and we will return again!

We stay at Club Med in La Plagne, which makes life really easy as everything (flights, accommodation, food, drink, ski pass, ski school) is included and as a group of eight all at a similar level we have access to a dedicated ESF ski instructor for the week.

I stayed in La Plagne in a chalet for a week in January 2025. The holiday was advertised by "skifriends.co.uk" with whome I was on ski holidays before. For the name of the chalet, please contact them.

The accommodation was based on two people sharing. It included breakfast and dinner and a hot tube. Flights, transfers, equipment and ski passes were booked by myself. Caterring and accommodation were of a high standard and in my opinion without fault.

Skiing was very good for advanced and intermediate skiers. The area was snow safe. The area Skipass allowed to use neighbouring ski areas, which improved the skiing experience. Apres ski opportunities are good but I was mostly interested in the skiing.

We enjoyed the variety of runs and the size of the ski area. La Bergerie was good fun for some Apres ski at the end of the day and where we stayed in La Plagne Villages there was a great lift down into La Plagne Centre that ran late at night for extra eating out options.

We stayed in La Plagne as two families with kids ages 9-14. We had adult and child lessons from ESF and stayed at snoroc apartments in Montalbert. We loved the atmosphere of the resort, restaurants and shop staff were all friendly, the snow was excellent and places were reasonably priced. We found a few favourite lunch spots, slopes and bars and would gladly revisit any time. Plenty of slopes, with lots of easy blues to much harder blacks and off piste to keep all levels happy. The lifts were functional with only a few that had regular ques.

Great resort with large ski area and large variety of runs. Many of the pistes are between the trees which makes pistes narrower than elsewhere however made more interesting. Lots of small snowpark, boardercross and jump parks to make things interesting as well.

La Plagne has something for everyone, miles and miles of slopes and never full, plenty of bars and restaurants and of course apres ski. Been 6 times and never had a bad experience, always plenty of snow, transport between areas is very good.

If planning to stay in the La Plagne area and you want nightlife then stay in Plagne Centre and not Plagne 1800, which is quieter and good for families.
Setting off early to head over to Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express cable car is a great day out especially if the sun is out as you get some beautiful blue and red runs through the trees heading to it. Les Arcs itself also holds oodles of great intermediate skiing and you can really cover some miles in a day.
