What Skiers Say About La Plagne

La Plagne attracts primarily beginner and intermediate skiers, with families and mixed-ability groups featuring prominently. Users consistently mention the vast ski area and extensive blue and red runs, plus lift-linked access to Les Arcs via the Paradiski pass. Snow reliability is frequently praised due to high altitude, and the lift system receives positive remarks for efficiency outside peak times. The resort is described as family-friendly and quieter than some alternatives, though multiple reviewers note that nightlife and après options are limited compared to livelier resorts. Queues and crowded pistes are mentioned during school holidays and at certain bottleneck lifts, particularly around Plagne Bellecôte in the afternoon. Food quality on the mountain is generally well-regarded, though prices are noted as high.

A genuinely great resort, it’s been a long time since we last went skiing and our first time to this resort, but really impressed by everything, There was plenty of green and blue runs for us to find our feet and all connected by well managed lifts so you’re not wasting time trying to get around. Didn’t take too much advantage of the apres but there’s plenty of atmosphere and places to be in the evening.

Would highly recommend a visit

We drive to resort and can reserve parking at our accommodation. But there is ample parking in resort if you can't park at your accommodation. We stay at 1800 village which is quiter but has it own apre, ski hire shops, and lift pass office( so beat the ques) and food shops and bars, it also has a starting point for ski school by the lifts to plange center.Easy access to lifts to get to where you need to be to get on the main slopes . 1800 is ease to get back to when the lifts stop by either riding down or on the local buses system which run frequently and is free and run till early hours .There are slopes for everyone from advanced to beginners and is a great family destination.

La plagne is a sick resort, one of my favourites I’ve been to! There’s so many runs and plenty of blues, but beware - most of them aren’t absolute beginner-friendly, so I’d make sure you’re relatively confident before going. There’s so much variety too: great tree runs, beautiful red/blue/black routes from the peaks that go both sides of the mountains into different valleys and the views everywhere are just insane. Plus, there’s the Olympic bobsleigh run!
Unfortunately, as it’s such a good resort, it can get pretty busy. Both sides of La Verdon mountain, the lifts can have long queues. The same goes for lifts from Plagne centre, which is probably the most popular village there for it’s accessibility to a lot of places, it’s cafes and ski schools.
The snow was generally great! A bit of ice in the lower areas, especially on the tree runs, but a nice bit of powder in some places too! There’s this one fantastic bar for Apres: La Bergerie. Dancers, DJ, Saxophonist, Hype-Man and just the best vibes. There’s a few other really nice apres bars, as well as good locals bars and the prices aren’t awful if you’re used to drinking in the Alps!

Deservedly renowned as a family friendly resort but don’t let this fool you into thinking that advanced skiers and small groups are not fantastically served.

Really easy to get to the slopes from any accommodation and great access to all different levels and areas of the resort. It was my first time snowboarding in Europe, coming from Australia it was a really great time with my partner and her Dad's family. It was busy due to being school holidays but got some very nice flowing red runs early in the morning when things were a bit quieter. Overall a really great week and would love to go back

A great ski area, varied levels of skiing for all abilities. Linked to Les Arcs to form a huge ski area. If conditions are good, there are lots of tree lined runs lower down, though can get a bit slushy/sparse if it warms up. Great high altitude skiing on the upper slopes.

The runs are good, especially when up past 1800 metres.
Shame the runs aren’t groomed more often - the red runs are nicer to ski down than the blues as the blues being busier tend to have mogel mounds from turns.
Staff everywhere very nice and welcoming, and sign posts are great.
Special shout out to the Yuge app - brilliant app with everything in one place and the most accurate I’ve used in a while!

Great resort for beginner and intermediate skiers. Loads of other things to do when you’re not skiing as well. We went in March and it was quiet on the slopes but still really good snow. Would definitely recommend and we’ll be going back in the future.

Went with my family last February, had a great ski week. Conditions were great on and off the piste with big powder fields to be found. Music and dancing up the mountain as well as quieter bars for and cafes available if that's not your cup of tea. There was apres to be found but not the liveliest where we were at least, very appropriate for families of all ages in the village.

We have been going to La Plagne for many years - from when my kids were very young. We found the ski area to be excellent and really good for families. Unfortunately the last couple of times we went we found it extremely busy, at one tow we were waiting for over an hour and ended up giving up and walking to another tow. The ski area is brilliant, probably the best I have been to and the glacier is a must. It was mentioned that it has become so busy because of the lack of snow on the lower French resorts. If going pick your week carefully.
