What Skiers Say About La Plagne

La Plagne attracts primarily beginner and intermediate skiers, with families and mixed-ability groups featuring prominently. Users consistently mention the vast ski area and extensive blue and red runs, plus lift-linked access to Les Arcs via the Paradiski pass. Snow reliability is frequently praised due to high altitude, and the lift system receives positive remarks for efficiency outside peak times. The resort is described as family-friendly and quieter than some alternatives, though multiple reviewers note that nightlife and après options are limited compared to livelier resorts. Queues and crowded pistes are mentioned during school holidays and at certain bottleneck lifts, particularly around Plagne Bellecôte in the afternoon. Food quality on the mountain is generally well-regarded, though prices are noted as high.

Ive been to La Plagne twice now with my partner and and 2 children, we have found La Plagne brilliant with a large ski area giving you lots of options for different run, the sko school was very friendly and had great instructors, accommodation was reasonably priced, we went out of a school holidays which obviously made it cheaper. Would definitely recommend going!

Stayed in a self catering apartment in Aime 2000 in January 2025. Resort was a little limited for apres ski options, but good food options and ski in/ski out accommodation. The piste area is huge and has a great lift network. Something for everyone, boarders or skiers at all levels

Loved the resort, could do with a few more beginner friendly runs at the lower areas of the mountain. Food wasn’t amazing and was fairly expensive but nothing different from many other ski resorts in France.

Family friendly resort. Plenty of pistes to choose from so suitable for beginners and pros. Snow sure even late in the season. Lively Apres in most villages. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Going back again in January!

Great spot for those wanting to ski a new run each time, tons of variety.
Suits family trips down to the ground as there’s a couple of bars and one club to look after those after a later night out

Designed for skiiers, not for beauty very boxy resort in 4 areas. Good lift connections. Fast lifts, not many queues. Not many snow makers. More apartments and self catering than hotels. Budget end resort but good, well groomed pustes. Not much nightlife and only "basic" restaraunts, Megeve or Courchelal it's nit but nor are the prices. For budget conscious u 40's or families look at UCPA.

We had the best time, staying at MGM La Plagne and having lessons in the mornings. A really good variety of accessible slopes for beginner/intermediate riders, although not the best/most accessible “baby slopes” I’ve ever seen. I wish we were going again this year, the snow looks amazing.

I learnt here and it was great for an adult beginner. Ski schools were super helpful, and there were lots of nice green and blue runs to practice on. Had lots of snow in March too.

I stayed in Champagny-en-Vanoise, a beautiful alpine village that is great for a quieter, more authentic alpes experience , with plenty of places to eat and drink in the evenings. It is quieter, so not as great on apres as the more central villages like Belle Plagne and Plagne 1800. Accommodation is very affordable here compared to those at a higher altitude. From here it is very easy to get to the main slopes of La Plagne, by taking a 5 minute cable car from the village.

Snow conditions were good at the top of the gondola when we were here but not at the village level, so unfortunately we couldn’t ski back down to the village, like you normally can with good snow fall. This just meant we had to get the gondola back down in the afternoon.

The piste skiing in La plagne is incredible. You can ski for over a week and still have more to ski, especially with the Paradiski pass which allows you into Les Arcs via the Vallandry express I think it’s called. The pistes are well maintained, and you are pretty much garunteed snow. When the weather is bad, there are plenty of tree runs catering for all abilities at lower altitude, but these can sometimes become icy and are much narrower than the higher pistes.

The fun parks are great, with jumps and challenges for all levels. The ski schools are also great, I recommend Oxygene, they were great for me when I was younger.

Overall an excellent resort for everyone. Has something for families, friends, couples and more. I do highly recommend staying gd in Champagny-en-vaniose if you are not too bothered about the nightlife or apres, as it was absolutely stunning, with views of Courchevel and La Tania.

We went to La Plagne as a group of dads with our kids. The ski area is exceptional. It’s large, has a good mix of runs although they do lean towards blues rather than reds. The bars and restaurants are very good but expensive. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

La plagne is a destination I will certainly go back to, large piste map area covering a huge variation of runs with a high elevation for snow sure all season. Some decent parks, off piste and border cross. What’s not to love
