What Skiers Say About Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb attracts skiers and snowboarders across all ability levels, from beginners to experts. Reviewers consistently praise the massive skiable terrain across two mountains, the variety of runs including off-piste and tree skiing, and the efficient lift system connecting Whistler and Blackcomb via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Snow conditions are frequently mentioned as variable, with several users noting rain at lower elevations, icy patches, and inconsistent coverage depending on the season. The resort is repeatedly described as expensive, with high costs for lift tickets, accommodation, food, and dining both on and off the mountain. Lift queues, particularly on weekends and peak times, are a common complaint, with waits of 20-40 minutes reported at busy periods.

Big mountain. Lift reliability can lead to downtime, wasted time, and the inability to move to other areas of the mountain leading to overcrowding.

Food on the hill is awful and expensive.

Nice view from the bar though.

Victim to variable weather can sometimes mean tricky or lack of snow but loads of great options for off piste skiing and tree runs including along bike trails which are great fun. Amazing bowl skiing especially when full of powdered moguls.

A great resort split over 2 mountains, Whistler and Blackcombe. Purpose built in the 1950s. Lots of well groomed runs, cable cars link the 2 mountains, great runs and terrain park. Accommodation well located with some lining the ski runs down to the bottom. Great Apres bars and restaurants with some clubs. It is pricey to get there, stay and ski pass, plus drink and eat but a top resort.

Whistler in the era of Vail is a shadow of its former self. Poor grooming, over crowded runs, inattentive staff who cant load lifts well, poorly maintained infrastructure including frequent lift stoppages and breakdowns, and exorbitant prices for food, ski school, rentals and just about everything else. On top of all that the Epic pass has brought hordes of weak skiers who frequently go into areas beyond their ability where they end up skiing out of control and placing others a risk.

Because of my student priced season pass, the Whistler mountain is amazing value for money. Both mountains, Blackcomb and Whistler, are massive with many runs of a variety of difficulty. The mountains are very family friendly and skiers of all levels can have an enjoyable time. The only down sides of the mountain is due to its popularity, lifts can be extremely crowded. Also the weather and conditions can be very inconsistent.

I lived in whistler for 6 months in 2023 and I had an absolute blast. The staff at Whistler Blackcomb that are hired by the mountain are always friendly and are happy to help in any situation. Theres so many options for food in the village and out of the centre too. The slopes are great, I love the tree runs and the bowls. But whistler has struggled with getting snow but this season it looks like theyve had loads! So bump runs will be brilliant.

Did a season in whistler as a ski instructor. Snow and terrain was epic, the lift lines not so much. Waiting upwards of 2 hours to get on a lift is never fun.

Best snow Ive experienced

Whistler is best resort in North America!
The vertical drop is impressive and the variety of alpine terai. Mixed with tree areas is impressive.
This is also a very large ski area.

Whistler Ski Resort's pristine powder is a dream for snow seekers, yet its popularity means it gets skied quickly. The vibrant village boasts lively bars, but the repetitive music might leave some yearning for variety. The expansive skiing terrain caters to all, but the crowds can be overwhelming. For seasonal workers, navigating the scarcity of accommodation adds a challenge to the overall experience. Despite these nuances, Whistler remains a top-tier destination, blending exhilarating slopes with a bustling atmosphere, creating an unforgettable winter adventure.

Love whistler blackcomb! I have lived here and worked here the past two year and to say it has been a life altering experience is just a little bit of how much I love it. I moved from Australia to ski some proper Canadian powder and I dont think I could ever go back!! Whistler has such good opportunities to improve aswell being that there are two mountains to ski on! Love Whistler so much and Im thankful to have made it my home :)

Had an absolutely amazing week at Whistler. Went on a week where there was fresh pow. Did full day group lessons with the ski school and the instructors took us to untouched pow and amazing runs Id never find myself. Theres so much terrain when the snows good. Also met amazing friends through the ski school and my accomodation.

A great resort but if you happen to be on holiday there on a pow day then you will miss half a day of skiing and have basically wasted paying for the days pass due to the queues getting up the mountain

The snow is SUPER sticky. Most groomed runs I encountered are family zones, but I dont think I explored enough. This is the biggest ski resort Ive been to with TWO mountains that you can ski. Backcountry wise it is definitely very impressive. The views are of other peaks all around you, very beautiful. Accommodation is very expensive unless you know someone with a place and lift tickets are atrociously priced at 270-300 dollars?? The mountain is so beautiful and the runs too but NO MOUNTAIN IS WORTH 300 dollars for DAY skiing only. Youre spending $37.50 an hour to ski here for up to 8 hours max in a day before lifts close. Value=terrible but mountain is one of the best youll get in North America.

I love skiing at whistler. Its not only because it was the first resort that I skied at, and it has the most variety of terrain and features some of the best terrain parks in the world! But what I love the most is definitely the powder days, its something that I think we all love. So I hope you get a chance to enjoy too.
