What Skiers Say About Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb attracts skiers and snowboarders across all ability levels, from beginners to experts. Reviewers consistently praise the massive skiable terrain across two mountains, the variety of runs including off-piste and tree skiing, and the efficient lift system connecting Whistler and Blackcomb via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Snow conditions are frequently mentioned as variable, with several users noting rain at lower elevations, icy patches, and inconsistent coverage depending on the season. The resort is repeatedly described as expensive, with high costs for lift tickets, accommodation, food, and dining both on and off the mountain. Lift queues, particularly on weekends and peak times, are a common complaint, with waits of 20-40 minutes reported at busy periods.

Whistler Blackcomb was my favorite ski resort growing up, and still is even as an adulthood. In recent years, it was acquired by an American corporation, and unfortunately, prices have surged. That said, there are some great deals available for veterans and individuals with disabilities can snag an affordable season pass, and the Epic pass offers fantastic rates for little kids as well.

If youre introducing your children to skiing or snowboarding, check out Epic Schools, first time kids get a free lesson, full day rentals, and lunch included! Despite the rising costs, the resort remains incredibly family friendly. For singles, the nightlife is vibrant and buzzing, but keep an eye on your beer tab it can climb faster than youd expect.

Whistler Blackcomb boasts some of the most amazing slopes for snowboarding, with terrain that caters to every skill level, from beginner friendly runs to advanced backcountry trails. The views from the slopes are absolutely breathtaking, with snow covered peaks stretching as far as the eye can see. Chairlifts run efficiently, but be prepared for massive lineups during peak times, so plan accordingly to maximize your day on the mountain.

When it comes to accommodations, theres something for every budget. Options range from affordable hostels and trendy pod hotels to luxurious high end resorts. Multiple families can even rent whole cabins! As for the gastronomy, culinary options are diverse and cater to a wide range of tastes, so something for everyone. High prices aside, Whistler Blackcomb is an amazing resort.

I spent a year living on this mountain, when I arrived I had never snowboarded, when I left I was boarding park, double blacks and off piste tree runs.
The mountain has ALL the terrain you could possibly wish for! And if ever a run feels busy its very easy to pick another quieter one.
After a powder day theres always pockets of powder hidden all over.
Village life is short of breathtaking and has something for everyone! Several hotels are built into the base of the mountain and you can literally ski to the door.
If I had to pick a mountain to ski or snowboard on for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Resort is great as a worker here for a season as free ski passes and many perks. However as someone on holiday or visiting the value for money is questionable, it is incredible at whistler Blackcomb but it comes at a large cost! However early season is brilliant if the snow is as slopes especially on blackcomb mountain are quieter

Great skiing on the mountain, lots of terrain to try either off piste or groomed runs. Can get busy however so fresh powder can get ran through quick, so need to be up early on those snow days!

Lots of good apres options but especially hair farmers who play at merlins and dustys throughout the week. Expensive place to stay and ski, however the vast and diverse terrain across 2 mountains means great skiing everywhere. 7th heaven chair lift on a bluebird powder day is amazing! And symphony chair for plenty of tree runs!

Lots of different and newly renovated lifts that get you up the mountain quickly, however the gondola can be very stop start which is frustrating at times.

Overall great fun to ski all day and then enjoy the apres scene at whistler village, upper village or creekside! Plenty to do!

I lived in Whistlerduring the 2011/2012 winter season.

Whistler as a village feels like a fully functioning city at the base of a mountain in a good way. there's so much going on that the staff used to joke about it as being a bubble, you felt disconnected from the rest of the world but at the same time still in touch.

There's no dispensaries in town but squamish will deliver around 5pm so plan ahead.

The bar scene is great, hosting big and small - Steve Aoki at Garfunkels and Mad Child at MoeJoes being two I recall.

The people are great, the village is fantastic, the scenery unbelievable and the mountain is just lovely.

It still feels like home when I visit.

The amount of ski acreage is awesome as is the diversity of terrain. There has always been decent snow conditions when we were there.
When it is not crowded, I have not been anywhere better. During crowds it can be frustrating waiting in line to get on the lifts especially if you are only there for a week of vacation.

Whistler has endless skiing entertainment especially if you want to ski off piste and still be in bounds. There are many bowls and tree runs off the side of the pistes making them easily accessible. Go to Seventh Heaven, Harmony or Symphony for this. In addition to this I loved being able to make short hikes to access more untouched trails, my favourite of these being Flute Bowl and Spankys Ladder.

I trained to instruct in Whistler and the quality of ski school instructors is incredible even for the advanced skiers.

Whistler town as lots to offer in terms of accommodation and great food. Its also worth considering a first tracks pass if it snows whilst youre there. This gives you early access to the mountain and breakfast in a restaurant on the mountain too.

After learning how to ski in Charmonix several years ago, I decided to learn how to snowboard here in Whistler. Whilst the slopes were still a bit icy due to weather conditions, I could still get some effective boarding done. There is much more snow during the January and February months, and i recommend visiting then. There are plenty of slopes to choose from and ski lifts leaving right from the village centre.

The village is on the pricier side, charging much more for the ski pass and lessons compared to surrounding mountains, but this is due to the popularity of the village.

The village is vibrant, with a great mix of internationals that are working and visiting. I would definitely recommend staying here for a week, getting some great skiing/boarding done whilst enjoying a beer afterwards.

I have been skiing at Whistler since I was 5 years old. Its one of my favorite mountain that I have ever skied at. Although pricey, you can buy day passes at the start of the season and those are a pre solid deal. The skiing itself is amazing each run is amazing wide with a variety of terrain to choose from. As soon as you come down from the slopes, you can see the apres ski in action. Bars right at the bottom of the lifts are always packed.

Whistler is the most well-known ski resort in Canada. It is HUGE. It takes 2 to 3 days of skiing to have a full experience of the resorts. Youd find any type of slope with any difficulty youll looking for. Lifts are efficient and quick. You might see a line up if you go on a weekend but dont worry about it because it goes faster than you think. For someone whos looking for multiple visits at the resort, ld suggest a season pass which worth the price big time! Ive been skiing since l was 5 and lve visited many resorts around the globe but Whistler is one my favourites. Not just the quality of the resort but also the beauty of the nature. Cant wait to visit there again! On a scale from 1 to 10, ld give it a 10/10!

I mean.. its Whistler Blackcomb..

Youre going to pay a lot of money.. youre going to see a lot of people.. its the pinnacle of capitalizing on the Canadian skiing market. Massive resort, super fast lifts.. but so many people who dont know proper skiing etiquette.. and so many people you wish werent there.

Been in lines as long as an hour. The terrain is great, but its just too busy. At least most skiers who are there arent tearing up the gnar.. but it makes you wish they just stayed at grouse mountain.

Overall, incredible terrain. Amazing spots to apres.. just too many people, even on average ski days.

I wonder what it would be like if Vancouver didnt hold the 2010 Olympics.

I just wanna shred the pow up top all day, but the jabronis (jerrys) are just in the way of me getting on the lift.

Its Whistler. You gotta go.. but expect that its gonna be a full experience, not a skiing-focussed experience.

Had like three poutines there.. I would devour about five more if my wallet and heart thought it would be a favourable idea.

Also.. its minimum $250 a lift ticket.

Whistler Blackomb is a ski resort that attracts tourists from all around the globe. They are accommodating to tourists, yet they always find ways to put BC locals first. Whether its the BC student pass; or the epic local pass, theres always a way to save money skiing Whistler Blackcomb if youre a local. Due to its elevation theres always good quality snow to be found. I
And if an area is getting busy on one side of the mountain, you can just take the gondola to the opposite mountain. The back country options are fantastic, and groomed runs are well kept and fun for anyone. Theres something for everyone at Whistler Blackcomb. The resort and night life options are also some of the best; with many clubs and bars around the village, theres always something to do after a great day of skiing. Whether youre a tourist who wants to learn to ski or just get some good eats and shopping in; or the most seasoned skier or boarder, theres something at Whistler Blackcomb for you.

Big resort, ideal for all abilities. Does get busy over peak times including weekend and public holiday. Can be waiting a while for lifts at times. Resort has Peak-Peak gondola, taking you between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain in about 15mins.
Ample good food and apres options. Is an expensive resort but we were working seasonally and felt our wages reflected this.
