What Skiers Say About Sun Peaks
Sun Peaks attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with families being a significant visitor group. Reviewers consistently highlight the large terrain spread across three mountains, minimal lift queues even during peak periods, and exceptionally well-groomed runs. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded compared to other BC destinations, with a small pedestrian village offering ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Common criticisms centre on limited restaurant options requiring advance booking, lack of vibrant nightlife or après-ski atmosphere, and variable snow conditions with some seasons experiencing rain or thin coverage. Several users note the resort can feel over-groomed for those seeking powder.

The food options are plentiful at Sun Peaks as well. Everything from Pachos and Burritos at 540 to more sophisticated fare at some of the more intimate restaurants. Whatever you palette desires, be sure to have a loaded hot chocolate at Bolacco's!
We have stayed at the the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, rented a condo and stayed at The Fireside lodge. The Fireside is by far our favorite accommodation. It is just tucked away across the road from the main parking lot so you aren't too far away. The staff are really personable, the rooms are great and you get a nice buffet breakfast each morning.
Skiing at Sun Peaks is always consistent and we rarely find ourselves waiting in long lines. The drive up from Kamloops is short and easy too. Sun Peaks is always a resort we visit each season.
Lifts are fast with SunDance Express lift offering my favourite runs of the day - 5 mile, Rambler and Nancy Green plus dropping off to go onto blue runs. Morrisey Express lift offers great blue runs skiing through trees which is fun for all ages.
Apre ski was a little different from Europe as it only had one restaurant on the mountain at Sunburst Lodge offering lots of delicious food but cinnamon buns with a hot drink first thing is a must and a portion of Poutine fries with gravy are a must for lunch!
Skiing in Canada for my first time was truly an amazing incredible experience.
We loved five mile as we didnt feel we were in anyones way as its soooo wide and spacious.
The sticks on mt. morrisey was another favourite as an introduction to skiing through trees.
Never had a long wait for ski lifts and all of team sun peaks were so friendly and helpful.
There are so many food options in the village itself and everything is so reasonably priced.
We would go back to sun peaks in a heartbeat (just wish it was closer to UK).
Try it once and it likely wont be your last visit.
Backcountry seems to be a lot of potential but during our stay, not enough snow
The runs are varied and particularly the pisted areas we're really good when we were there. The resort had okay options for food and drink but not a big apres scene. We would happily go back, it's really well suited to a range of abilities. A particular bonus is every lift having a green, blue and black from the top so you don't reallt have to think too hard where to go!
Lots of variety, and spots to explore.
People spread out well, so even on a busy day, it forms feel crowded.
