What Skiers Say About Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with families being a significant visitor group. Reviewers consistently highlight the large terrain spread across three mountains, minimal lift queues even during peak periods, and exceptionally well-groomed runs. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded compared to other BC destinations, with a small pedestrian village offering ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Common criticisms centre on limited restaurant options requiring advance booking, lack of vibrant nightlife or après-ski atmosphere, and variable snow conditions with some seasons experiencing rain or thin coverage. Several users note the resort can feel over-groomed for those seeking powder.

Beautiful resort. Crowds are small. Lift lines non existent. Snow was perfect. It's a little out of the way but well worth the trip.

I have been skiing Sun peaks since I was a toddler and have loved watching it grow and become my favourite place to ski. I plan on teaching my newborn daughter to ski there and make memories with her. Great amount of terrain and one of the best places to ski as a kid or as an expert. The village could use a little bit of expansion but they dont have much room for it. The new west bowl chair gives access to more terrain which is awesome and I look forward to riding it. Love Sun peaks with all my heart.

Sun Peaks Resort has been my home mountain since I was two years old, and every year it continues to amaze me. As a local, Ive had countless incredible experiences skiing its 4,200 acres of diverse terrain, from perfectly groomed cruisers to powder-filled glades. The welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere and charming European-style village make it feel like more than just a resortits a community. Whether youre enjoying a hearty meal at Masas Bar & Grill or exploring activities like snowshoeing and ice skating, theres something for everyone. Sun Peaks truly offers an unforgettable alpine experience for locals and visitors alike.

It is a great resort, a ton of runs with many options and since there are so many runs there is less people per run, the ski school is really good and the bunny hill is easy to get started on. The resort is beginner friendly. There are also a ton of more difficult runs and plenty of places to get food close by.

Honestly a very well rounded resort. I've boarded more then a few resorts and this hands down is in my top 5. Lots of terrain, only thing they could use some more of is double Black's. But very family friendly, and great for people learning. The staff are friendly, funny and pretty chill. The terrain park is decent but geared more towards Begginers and experts, kinda difficult to find a medium ground there, but if you're just starting to do tricks it's pretty good.

Sun Peaks is a nice intermediate level resort. Lots of runs. Good chairs. Not busy. Mellow pitch. Not much natural snow fall. Freeride terrain leaves a lot to be desired and the terrain park layout is very poorly designed (too long, no designated park chair or rope tow and rides like a slopestyle course with limited opportunity for progresssion). Village is nice. Restaurants are pretty good.

Purpose built but very accessible and well designed. Continues to grow. Two main ski areas. Not the same number of lifts as you would get in Europe but the costs are comparable. Lots of off piste adventures to be had, but watch out for the tree wells. Lots of bars and restaurants. Good ski shops and gift shops. A supermarket and wine/beer shop.

Spent 2 days here last year, probably the best skiing I had that season. Quiet, especially for a holiday, great assortment of terrain for all levels, and the free guiding was really well done. 10/10 can't wait to go back

Sunshine Village is a must-visit for any ski or snowboard enthusiast! The breathtaking scenery of the Canadian Rockies and the incredible variety of runs make it an unforgettable experience. Whether youre a beginner or a seasoned pro, theres terrain for everyone.

The gondola ride up is smooth and offers stunning views, and the snow quality is unbeatablelight, fluffy, and plenty of it. The resort is well-organized, with efficient lift systems that minimize wait times even on busy days.

The Sunshine Mountain Lodge is a cozy retreat for those looking to stay on-site, and the dining options on the mountain are solid, though they can be a bit pricey. The only drawback is that it can get quite crowded on weekends, but thats to be expected given its popularity.

Overall, Sunshine Village offers world-class skiing and a fantastic atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip!

Sun Peaks is a really great skiers resort. Theres tons of terrain across a wide variety of difficulty. The grooming at Sun Peaks is amazing on the Alpine as well as Nordic trails, and there is enough off-piste area to find untouched snow a week after it snows. With no wait at any lifts and empty runs everywhere, Sun Peaks truly is a hidden gem.

My experience with Sun Peaks has been overall positive; theres an abundance of terrain to explore, not long waits in the lift lines, and a very welcoming team of staff. That being said, its not without its flaws. Even with Sun peaks massive amounts of terrain it has so few options when youre looking for powder, furthermore the options for black diamonds and double black diamonds are limited to say the least. A tip I have for newcomers to Sun Peaks would be to explore the tree runs, theres a lot of mountain bike trails that have some sweet features to hit while skiing/snowboarding.

I loved sun peaks it was amazing the queues for the lifts were almost none, several times we had the entire run to ourselves and the powder quality was another level. Each run was so fun and different from the other one of our favorites was a green run that had loads of through the trees sections from the summer mountain bike trails so much fun. Everyone was so friendly and helpful had the best time skiing in Canada. Would highly recommend this resort for those who want a quiet amazing ski experience away from the other busy mountains

Sun Peaks is one of Canadas largest ski areas and has a great village. Over 130 runs for all type of levels of difficulty/expertise. We love going there as it is 50 mins from Kamloops. Can't wait for the season to start, and ride the new lift they installed this summer (of 2024).
