What Skiers Say About Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain is the largest of three local resorts within 30 minutes of downtown Vancouver, attracting all skill levels from beginners to experts. Users consistently highlight the proximity to the city, night skiing availability, stunning views of Vancouver and Howe Sound, and a good variety of terrain including tree runs. The resort is frequently described as busy, particularly on weekends, with long lift queues and parking challenges. Snow conditions are variable due to the coastal location, often icy or affected by rain. Pricing is seen as high relative to the mountain's size, especially for food. Despite these issues, it remains the preferred local option for Vancouver-area riders.

Cypress Mountain is hands down Vancouvers best local mountain! Its terrain outshines the other two North Shore options, offering a great variety for all skill levels, from cruisy runs to challenging steeps. Its the perfect spot for quick trips or a full day of shredding.

That said, it does come with a couple of drawbacks. Its popularity means its often the busiest of the three, so expect crowded parking lots and lift lines, especially on weekends. Additionally, while the overall terrain is excellent, the lack of a well-developed terrain park is a bit of a letdown for freestyle enthusiasts.

Still, for proximity, quality of runs, and spectacular views, Cypress is hard to beat as a local favorite!

I think Cypress is an excellent mountain for people who live in Vancouver and nearby suburbs. Its rare to find a mountain of such high quality within only a few minutes of a major metropolitan city.
Of course, the proximity to such a large city also makes it come with some downsides - the resort could get really busy. Vancouver is also a very expensive city with a high cost of living, so as a result, nearby ski resorts also need to charge higher prices to make it economically viable for them to operate.

good mountain, more for just straight runs, less flowy runs with many less side hits and features than other mountains much more straight forward. Good for learning.

Cypress is my main mountain and I will be skiing there this season once my knee is better. Cypress has great off terrain and hidden runs some of which you have to search for. The groomed runs are basic but you can get a lot of speed and some have amazing side hits and gaps. The two main lifts eagle and lion are pretty slow on busy days but it depends, and the ski chair is hardly ever a long wait(the sky chair also has the fancy ski conveyer belt loader). I feel that the double blacks are closer to single black but they are all still amazing. My 3 favourite runs are, Glades, Top gun, and the hidden run leading off the right side of the park connected to collins which has amazing pow and almost nobody goes there.

Solid mountain but is small and gets busy on weekends and holidays but lines are usually fine. Conditions can be ok depending on the yet but last year wear bad. Solid groomers and a ok park at certain points during the season.

If you don't wanna make the trek to Whistler from Vancouver or pay the insane $300 lift ticket price Cypress is (imo) the best lower mainland mountain. With 4 chair lifts and 2 of em basically only blacks/doubles it makes for an amazing time if you get good weather. They don't have a designated off piste area but duck a couple ropes and you'll find an endless supply of fresh deep pow. While cypress in the past had an amazing park last couple years have been pre shit with the lack of snow last yr especially. While cypress does have apres it's only saterdays and it doesn't even go late (ends around 7pm) my favourite thing about this mountain is the night skiing. All groomers are well lit and with a good head mount light you can hit anything. There is virtually no lines at night especially at peak chair that even on a busy day your not waiting more then 10min. The tree runs on cypress are one of my favorites as they are fairly advanced and all have multiple lines to take gives u alot of freedom rather then just taking the same one line through the trees. The green and blue groomers are also very nice but do require speed in some sections. It doesnt matter if your an expert skier or brand new they have facilities for everyone. There are 6 total lifts. 2 for new riders bunny hill and one for half way up the main mountain. Then 2 main lifts on opposite mountain sides and they each have a supporting lift that are more advanced runs. Because cypress is a "bowl" it gives off a very nice sunset view where u can watch the sunset looking at a litup ski run and all of the lights from downtown Vancouver. While cypress is by far not the best mountain in BC it is one of my personal favorites because of price and distance from lower mainland Vancouver.

The resort is overall good. The price is alittle on the steep side. If you are riding on weekends The lines will be huge due to the slow and outdated lifts. If you decide to ride is the middle of the week there should be no problem. The food is mediocre. The runs are great. They have good customer service.

For a ski resort within an hour of a major metropolitan area, it's unmatched. Plenty of runs to choose from, excellent facilities.
I have a few complaints and it really applies to all mountains and resorts. The steady increase in cost has priced many out of a healthy, fun activity that connects people with nature. The extreme overbooking procedures for those who have no choice but to enjoy these activities on the weekend diminish the value and overall experience.

Its a great mountain overall, pros being that its designed for all levels of skiers and cons being not enough terrain parks for those who want it. Its a big mountain so its great for local and regional skiers.

Cypress is the best skiing for locals in Vancouver, but can be icy and crowded. Parking is incredibly difficult, but lifts are fast and terrain is excellent for intermediate skiiers. Lessons are great quality. No real apres activity, but you are only 30 minutes from Vancouver.

Great mountain baked into the city, but unfortunately subject to huge crowds and difficult traffic to get there because of how convenient it is.

Out of the three resorts bordering vancouver cypress is the best, they boast the most amount of runs and are incredibly well looked after. You can spend a whole week there without it getting too repetitive. The snow parks are slightly lacking however mid season they build a wicked bowl and some other features however these are only available for a month or so. There is very little off pieste but the groomed runs offer a nice variation. The food and customer service in the lodge is great!
