What Skiers Say About Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain is the largest of three local resorts within 30 minutes of downtown Vancouver, attracting all skill levels from beginners to experts. Users consistently highlight the proximity to the city, night skiing availability, stunning views of Vancouver and Howe Sound, and a good variety of terrain including tree runs. The resort is frequently described as busy, particularly on weekends, with long lift queues and parking challenges. Snow conditions are variable due to the coastal location, often icy or affected by rain. Pricing is seen as high relative to the mountain's size, especially for food. Despite these issues, it remains the preferred local option for Vancouver-area riders.

One of my only gripes with cypress is the parking. If you dont get a good parking spot youre taking up to a whole 25 minute hike with your gear from the parking lot to the base but you can solve this issue by getting there early. Another problem for me is the lack of bathrooms. There is one bathroom for men and one for women plus a handicap/family. Theyre pretty big but still annoying that theres only one per gender. There was one time when the mens bathroom was closed for cleaning or something and there was a whole lineup of men waiting for the single stall family bathroom.

Pros of cypress for me is that there are two main lifts so if ones busy you could just go to the other one. Each lifts has many runs with side paths. I have yet to need any actual repairs on my board but I have changed the angle of my boot mounts with the handy work stations they have. One of the last things I like about cypress is the fact that if you get a good enough parking spot youre able to snowboard straight to your car.

In conclusion add more bathrooms then cypress will be goated. :)

Normally I ski Big neighbouring mountains like Whistler. But if youre in Vancouver this is an easy 30 minute drive from the downtown and the bonus is that there is night skiing where you can go out for a couple of runs and have a good amount of terrine and Skiing. The views are stunning as it overlooks the ocean and city lights. There are ample runs to keep you challenged and lots of terrain to spend a couple hours. Definitely a favourite of the locals! And I can see why. But if youre a big mountain skier youre used to the long long runs. But Cypress definitely offers a good run and value for money and easy access to get to.

its a fun day out, still early season and the mountain is not fully open the chairlifts were very busy but friendly staff and a fun vibe. The Crazy Raven is great for Apres. We have season tickets and will see how this goes but so far we are happy.

Its the best resort near Vancouver within a 30 minute drive. The conditions arent always the best as places like Whistler, but its good enough to have fun. Its a good mountain to learn on and if you buy an early bird season pass, it is worth going to.

Cypress Mountain is a convenient option close to Vancouver, making it great for a quick day trip. The groomed runs and tree skiing were decent but could use better maintenance, and the powder zones were hit or miss. The terrain parks were fun, but occasional lift delays during peak times were a downside. Overall, its a solid choice for accessibility, though it doesnt quite match the variety of larger resorts.

I had a fantastic time at Cypress Mountain. The variety of runs and the stunning views made for an enjoyable day on the slopes. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were well-maintained. The only downside was the occasional crowding, but overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommend for a fun day out in the snow!

Great mountain but can be really icy and certain points the food is expensive but they do have some cheap things like ramen noodles and free hot water for it which is better than nothing like a lot of ski and snowboard resorts and mountains other than that I learned to snowboard there so I know there classes are good and all the workers are so friendly

Cypress Mountain is just a short drive from Vancouver and has a shuttle which will take you to the resort from Downtown or North Vancouver. There are two mountains on either side of the resort and it features about 60 runs. Its very family friendly and good for beginners and more advanced skiers and snowboarders. The view of Vancouver from the mountain is absolutely stunning. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an escape from the city.

The staff are super nice and there ate plenty of run options for any skill level they open in the earlier season which is awesome but it can start to get pretty icy in the later afternoon when there isn't as much snow in the early season so definitely worth going for the full day pass and going in the morning, overall a pretty decent ski and snowboarding area

Went up to Cyprus on opening day and they were holding an opening ceremony which was cool. Once the mountain actually opened there was only one lift open that day and 4 total runs but three of them were greens. I go every year and when the mountain is fully open its always great. Food is still pricy but not too bad.

Cypress Mountain Ski Resort is a fantastic destination for skiers looking to refine their skills and enjoy a variety of terrain. Located just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, it offers breathtaking views of the city and surrounding mountains. The resort boasts a good mix of blue runs that cater to those ready to step up their skiing game without feeling overwhelmed. Favorites include Jasey Jay and Horizon, which provide smooth, wide-open slopes ideal for carving.

The lift system is efficient, though it can get busy on weekends, so arriving early is recommended. Snow quality is generally good, especially after fresh snowfall, but conditions can be variable due to its lower elevation. The après-ski scene is cozy, with a well-stocked lodge and friendly staff. While expert skiers may find it less challenging, Cypress is a perfect spot for intermediates seeking a balanced and scenic skiing experience.
