What Skiers Say About Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain is the largest of three local resorts within 30 minutes of downtown Vancouver, attracting all skill levels from beginners to experts. Users consistently highlight the proximity to the city, night skiing availability, stunning views of Vancouver and Howe Sound, and a good variety of terrain including tree runs. The resort is frequently described as busy, particularly on weekends, with long lift queues and parking challenges. Snow conditions are variable due to the coastal location, often icy or affected by rain. Pricing is seen as high relative to the mountain's size, especially for food. Despite these issues, it remains the preferred local option for Vancouver-area riders.

Close to Vancouver - perfect for a sneaky afternoon on the slopes or night skiing after work! Backcountry options for those seeking that sort of thing, too.

My main issue with Cypress is the price of a lift ticket. I go there to teach the kids to ski (4 and 7 years old). For my son and I to ski, its $200. There is not enough of a mountain and I dont see evidence of any major infrastructure investments to justify this price tag.

Its a good local mountain with decent runs, length of runs are quite short and the lift lines are often quite long. Not many tree runs available

Love cypress! Weve been skiing there a few years now as we live in Vancouver and its a short 30 min drive from our house. I love that they offer night skiing because the sunsets from up top cypress are unmatched. Lots of fun green and blue runs!

A good hill for those local to Vancouver, a good hill to learn on, however it can be slushy and rainy due to its proximity to the coast. Worth checking out if you live in the area or are staying in Vancouver for a long time.

The big upside of this mountain is that its close to vancouver. Its the best mountain out of the 3 vancouver mountains (others being grouse and seymour)

Pack granola bars because the food is very expensive!

Expect to wait 20+ mins in the chairlift line on weekends.

This mountain is very fun during the day, expect the majority of runs to be closed when you come though.

I only skied a day at Cypress, and I hope to go back. I thought the apres and nightlife at Vancouver was great, it surprised me as a city with lots of great restaurants. I stayed in Vancouver so lodging wasnt as expensive for me as it was for those staying on mountain. The terrain was fun, the mountain was a lot colder than I was used to. However, there were great tree runs and I had the good fortune to find some stashes of powder. Overall a fun resort, but it didnt have anything remarkable in terms of extreme or advanced terrain. Great groomers though

We did night skiing on a weeknight and its still busy. Very convenient as it is within the Greater Vancouver area. Good terrain for an intermediate skier.

This is a great day resort close to Vancouver. Fantastic spot for families and a good days riding. Not a destination resort or a long stay place it's the local favorite for a good long day and night riding if you wish. Great long term history and the best terrain locally.

Larger resort in the area.
Snow gets icy due to proximity to ocean.
Moguls build up quickly from skiers, which isn't friendly to snowboarding unfortunately.
Usually very long lines if conditions are any good.
Not the best value for money.

Hard pack of people all the time.. hard to find parking. Parking no longer free. Lift line is insane long at all time since Covid. Chair lift often stop working.. there shouldnt be any excuse when Whistler can keep their days running and cypress chairlift just cant run?

Biggest resort within an hour drive of anywhere in Metro Vancouver, I usually go weekdays and its still quite busy, night riding/skiing works out well for people with 9-5 jobs. Has both city and mountain views which is a nice plus. However if time allows would recommend bigger resorts in BC.
