What Skiers Say About Verbier
Verbier attracts primarily intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting excellent off-piste terrain, challenging itinerary runs, and a large interconnected ski area across the 4 Valleys. The resort is frequently described as expensive across accommodation, food, and drinks, though many feel the quality justifies the cost. Advanced riders praise the steep mogul fields, tree runs, and backcountry access, while several note limited beginner-friendly terrain. Après-ski receives mixed feedback—some enjoy the bars and nightlife (particularly Farinet and Pub Mont Fort), while others find it less vibrant than expected or note that it happens in town rather than on-slope. Lift infrastructure is generally efficient with short queues outside peak times, though the main Médran lift can be busy during holidays.

Verbier is really really beautiful town, there is a lot to see and do. While there are some ludicrously expensive places, there are a few cheaper options (which are hard to find!). Chez Martin is brilliant for cheap (ish!) pizzas. The town lacks in the classic apres you would find in the French alps but 1936 and Icecube offer nice alternatives. Le Rougue and Pub Mont Fort in town are also great fun. For the more wild apres, head to Farinet for legendary music and beer throwing!
Skiing:
Arguably one of the best off-piste resorts in the world, with good snow you are completely spoiled for choice. My absolute favourites are Stairway/Highway as they seem to be a bit quieter as many people follow the crowds to Gentianes.
In terms of pisted runs, there really isn't that much in Verbier itself. The majority of holidayers stick to Lac de Vaux or La Chaux. If busy, avoid these areas at all costs! Savolyeres provides some lovely piste skiing and has a fraction of the visitors.
Alternatively, use that expensive lift pass that you've paid for and actually explore the 4 vallees! If you get to Siviez, make sure to check out the crepes at Le Tipi! Brusson is also a brilliant alternative during holiday season as there will be hardly anyone there!
Tips:
Most restaurants up the mountain have an expensive floor and a cheaper floor- make sure to sit downstairs/outside at Le Dahu for the most beautiful views of the mountain!
While Verbier remains the destination's main attraction, with its extensive range of activities and central location on the Verbier and 4Vallées ski area, other villages on the ski circuit offer different ways to experience the region with their own charm, style and choice of accommodation. Plus, the villages of La Tzoumaz, Le Châble and Bruson all have the added advantage of being connected to the ski area, while offering more affordable accommodation than Verbier. Explore Switzerland's largest ski area and still enjoy the experience of staying in a small resort. For those looking for easy access and a more authentic feel, Le Châble or Bruson are the best choice, whereas families will be delighted by the warm welcome in La Tzoumaz.
With preparations well underway for the 2023/24 winter season, there are two key themes at the forefront of all the new activities and developments within the resort: accessibility and sustainability. Verbier is highlighting its sustainable ethos with a clear trend towards using renewable and local energy, installing equipment that uses less energy, improving snow grooming and snowmaking systems, and encouraging alternative forms of transport all these measures are being put in place to reduce its carbon footprint.
The biggest carbon footprint comes from the movement of clients from their place of residence to the ski resort; train access from London St Pancras to Le Châble is an easy and relaxing way to travel, and the station is linked to Verbier and Bruson by cable cars that leave from the village. Direct flights are also available from Aberdeen, Belfast-International, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Doncaster, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds, Liverpool, London-City, London-Gatwick, London-Heathrow, London-Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, and Southampton.
The nightlife is hard to beat and the Après is some of the best in the Alps.
This resort is not one to miss and once you go - you will keep wanting to go back!
