What Skiers Say About Verbier

Verbier attracts primarily intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting excellent off-piste terrain, challenging itinerary runs, and a large interconnected ski area across the 4 Valleys. The resort is frequently described as expensive across accommodation, food, and drinks, though many feel the quality justifies the cost. Advanced riders praise the steep mogul fields, tree runs, and backcountry access, while several note limited beginner-friendly terrain. Après-ski receives mixed feedback—some enjoy the bars and nightlife (particularly Farinet and Pub Mont Fort), while others find it less vibrant than expected or note that it happens in town rather than on-slope. Lift infrastructure is generally efficient with short queues outside peak times, though the main Médran lift can be busy during holidays.

I have been skiing here for 17 years consecutively, and it is without a doubt a challenging resort for beginners and intermediate riders alike. The groomed runs vary wildly in difficulty (from icy blacks transitioning to easy blues). The off piste possibilities are unmatched in terrain and difficulty, I sometimes have trouble skiing down off piste when conditions are sub par, nevertheless these are fantastic to ski/snowboard down and you are sure to have a blast at the après!

Verbier is a great place to ski with loads of on and off piste options! Massive ski resort and a huge variety of piste. Expensive to visit, accommodation, food and apres going to set you back a bit but in my opinion, totally worth it!!

Verbier is beautiful. Very easy to get to, quick flight and or train/transfer. Very very good off pieste and powder lots of fun challenging runs with some of the most iconic runs in the world. The food for the most part is incredible as is the apres. You will meet either bear grylls or James blunt and many other random famous faces but those two pretty much run the lifts up lol. The restaurants are stupidly expensive but very high quality. A lot of snobby individuals there tho lol. Very good option for a luxury ski holiday consider the w or chalet Adrian both with amazing food. Pub mont fort or fairnet for apres avoid farm club. No options at for budget accommodation however the lift pass is amazing value for a year for under 25s (less than two weeks). Overall great skiing for advanced skiers really really poor for beginners like two green runs or something. Easy to get to great food but very expensive. Has the free ride wold tour finals there worth a watch that. Lifts are pretty average tbh lot of button lifts everywhere but verbier not that well connected but not bad tbf just not 3 valleys paradiski etc etc. Runs arent bad but off pieste or un piested stuff is the good stuff. Great fun but very expensive even to eat in is Switzerland after all. Go if u wanna burn money n look kind of cool or for really good off pieste and good sweaty (farinet) apres.

Went on a school trip, was very quiet and had an abundance of snow. However everything was very expensive so tried to avoid buying things out except at micros. Would definitely recommend.

I really enjoy Verbier it has great skiing for all levels. If combined with the 4 vallées Id say its one of the best in the world which would be proved by it winning the award a couple years ago.

Resort:
Verbier is really really beautiful town, there is a lot to see and do. While there are some ludicrously expensive places, there are a few cheaper options (which are hard to find!). Chez Martin is brilliant for cheap (ish!) pizzas. The town lacks in the classic apres you would find in the French alps but 1936 and Icecube offer nice alternatives. Le Rougue and Pub Mont Fort in town are also great fun. For the more wild apres, head to Farinet for legendary music and beer throwing!

Skiing:
Arguably one of the best off-piste resorts in the world, with good snow you are completely spoiled for choice. My absolute favourites are Stairway/Highway as they seem to be a bit quieter as many people follow the crowds to Gentianes.

In terms of pisted runs, there really isn't that much in Verbier itself. The majority of holidayers stick to Lac de Vaux or La Chaux. If busy, avoid these areas at all costs! Savolyeres provides some lovely piste skiing and has a fraction of the visitors.

Alternatively, use that expensive lift pass that you've paid for and actually explore the 4 vallees! If you get to Siviez, make sure to check out the crepes at Le Tipi! Brusson is also a brilliant alternative during holiday season as there will be hardly anyone there!

Tips:
Most restaurants up the mountain have an expensive floor and a cheaper floor- make sure to sit downstairs/outside at Le Dahu for the most beautiful views of the mountain!

Great range of slopes for all abilities - centre of town has easy beginner slope, whilst there's amazing off piste for more advanced levels. Loads of great restaurants and bars and must try the apres at Farinet or Mont Rouge!

Verbier - best freeride everVoted BEST SKI RESORT IN THE WORLD again at the 2022 World Ski Awards. Verbier, in Switzerland, draws legends, royalty, pop stars (James Blunt has a chairlift named after him) and, yes, us ordinary folk too. Part of the largest ski area in Switzerland, Four Valleys has 410 kms of slopes that cater for all levels of skiers and boarders. These include the Medran with its cruisy blues, Les Savoleyres with lovely sweeping reds, and the more challenging black runs of Mont Fort. The resort is also known for its off-piste skiing particularly the testing Mont Gelé and each year Verbier hosts the finals of the Freeride World Tour. The mountain views are spectacular, particularly from the 3,300 metre high Mont Fort peak, one of the few places in the Alps where you can see the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc mountains simultaneously.

While Verbier remains the destination's main attraction, with its extensive range of activities and central location on the Verbier and 4Vallées ski area, other villages on the ski circuit offer different ways to experience the region with their own charm, style and choice of accommodation. Plus, the villages of La Tzoumaz, Le Châble and Bruson all have the added advantage of being connected to the ski area, while offering more affordable accommodation than Verbier. Explore Switzerland's largest ski area and still enjoy the experience of staying in a small resort. For those looking for easy access and a more authentic feel, Le Châble or Bruson are the best choice, whereas families will be delighted by the warm welcome in La Tzoumaz.
With preparations well underway for the 2023/24 winter season, there are two key themes at the forefront of all the new activities and developments within the resort: accessibility and sustainability. Verbier is highlighting its sustainable ethos with a clear trend towards using renewable and local energy, installing equipment that uses less energy, improving snow grooming and snowmaking systems, and encouraging alternative forms of transport all these measures are being put in place to reduce its carbon footprint.
The biggest carbon footprint comes from the movement of clients from their place of residence to the ski resort; train access from London St Pancras to Le Châble is an easy and relaxing way to travel, and the station is linked to Verbier and Bruson by cable cars that leave from the village. Direct flights are also available from Aberdeen, Belfast-International, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Doncaster, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds, Liverpool, London-City, London-Gatwick, London-Heathrow, London-Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, and Southampton.
