Sestrierre is a perfect resort for a first ski holiday, brilliant beginner runs greens and blues through trees, beautiful surroundings.

Great to stay in but advanced skiers are best to get full valley pass and head to san sicario and Sauze D’Oulx - nice runs and quiet slopes. Food cheap that side of the valley. Can travel to France too. We stayed in principe piemonte hotel which is really nice and modern. Great access to slopes immediately and free shuttles too.

Village is very small with not many apres ski options. Skiing is good on the whole even when there weren’t a huge amount of runs open. I went the week before Christmas and it was pretty quiet. Best not flying to Geneva as it’s a right trek from there!

Great resort, family friendly good options for accommodation. We stayed at the Gran Roc Hotel which was great location for the ski school and about 10 mins walk from the main centre. Hotel had a good shuttle that made this easy. Eating out options were good but timings were limited for children as most places didn’t open until 7pm.

Busy slopes. They do not groom during the day so after 1 or 2 hours of ski day the slope quality is vastly reduced. Good accommodation and eating options with good apré ski. Few slopes open often unless very good snow. Plenty of off piece options.

Definitely visit sestriere ski resort it has all the capabilities from beginners to the very advanced. Night life is great with the apres ski and food during lunch time and dinner is exceptional. Slopes and lifts are open from 8am to 5pm with plenty of snow.

As the site of the previous Winter Olympics this has a lot of potential. There is a large 'plaza' area with very gentle slopes and magic carpets for beginners. Otherwise there are mostly red runs and some challenging blacks, with a few off piste areas too. There do not seem to be many blues.
Infrastructure is well set up with chair lifts, gondolas and drag lifts well maintained and staffed. There are a large number of ski schools to choose from in the town.
There are a good selection of places to eat and drink during the day but apres ski in the evening seems a little more re limited.
The down side is that the resort is extremely popular destination for secondary schools bringing teenage pupils. As a consequence the reds around the main areas were extremely crowded with teenager novices whose enthusiasm did not match their actual ability. There would also be long queues for lifts.

We went with a large group of people, there was about 20 of us that used the Ski School for lessons as we had never skied before. They were lovely and patient with the beginners and then only moved us up to blue slopes when we were ready!

There are lots of nice little places to eat, we went for pizza one night and it was delicious!

Overall we all had a great experience and the feedback from groups who were more advanced said they had an amazing time skiing down the black slopes. Would absolutely go again.

Resort is not as big as some French resorts however was plenty big enough for a long weekend. Some older lifts but everything ran smoothly and great value for money

A great resort for beginners with plenty of nice wide blues and reds. Equally plenty of opportunity for the more advanced with Olympic runs to try out. A lovely small town with everything you need. A friendly atmosphere.

Great resort but apres ski very quiet in December. Conditions were great though just need all the lifts to be open so there’s more to do.

Excellent week skiing at Sestriere, there hadn't been much fresh snow for weeks, but the quality of the snow making and grooming was superb. Nice, South facing terrain and long slopes including stunning green lined runs. Good food and drink options and easy to ski to other resorts. All in I'd definitely recommend.

Big area if you can ski into Sauze as well, but wind often prevents the single link from opening. If the wind blows (which it often does) skiing is very limited and lift Qs horrendous. Hotels are fine, good food, apres ski OK. Town is not pretty!

I went as part of a school ski trip. The ski school was great, and the nursery slopes were great for the beginners. We progressed onto the blue and red slopes and these were perfect for the group I was with.
The queues for the lifts in the morning and straight after lunch were long, but it was in the school holidays.

My first time sking in Italy and it was an amazing experience. A must visit. Ski school was super friendly and helped me get a lay if the land. I did visit in March though so there was not much powder or off-piste happening.

Very good with lots of different runs of all abilities and a wide range of terrain. Lots of restaurants and main town is good enough. Would recommend.

Sestriere is a friendly resort with an interesting history, being the first purpose built ski resort in Europe.
The access to the wider area is via Gondola, which is often blowed due to high winds.
The skiing at Sestriere is limited. You will have done everything in a day. However, the slopes are quiet, we had zero lift queues and nice food on the mountain.
The lifts are old, slow and have no covers / heating.
Cheap lift passes make it decent overall value for money and definitely a good place to learn.

Skied in Sestriere late March 2024. Where the rest of Thr Alps had suffered from a lack of snow there was plenty in Sestriere and the rest of the Milky Way. We found Sestriere to be a friendly resort, but perhaps suffering from a lack of investment. The links to Sauze dOulx were often closed due to high winds, but the weather cant be controlled so we accepted this. However, the slopes then became crowded as people were confined to one area. We stayed at The Grand Hotel which was pleasant, but the night club at night time went on til the early hours which meant interrupted sleep. The ski hire was conveniently placed on the side of the slopes, the resort staff friendly and I would recommend as a late deal if snow good and price right.Loved the mountain restaurants and the bars at the bottom of the main slope for a post-ski beer.
