Cervinia - Breuil Review Summary

Cervinia attracts intermediate and advanced skiers drawn to high-altitude, snow-sure terrain with wide, well-groomed red runs and access to Zermatt via the lift connection. Reviewers consistently mention reliable snow conditions, quiet pistes, efficient lift systems, and good-value Italian restaurants both on-mountain and in the village. The resort suits families and those seeking relaxed skiing over lively nightlife, with après described as limited but friendly. Wind is frequently cited as an issue, often closing upper lifts and the Zermatt link. Most users note the resort is better suited to skiers than snowboarders due to flat sections, and some mention a lack of challenging terrain on the Italian side alone.

Was amazed by how lovely the town was for a ski resort, independent restaurants and bars really stood out. The slopes were excellent for families and groups however some routes were of difficult terrain so not as friendly for new beginners possibly. A great range of ski pit stops on the mountain which werent too expensive in my opinion.

Cervinia is an great resort and has something to offer all levels of skiing and boarding, fantastic views of the Matterhorn and an all area lift pass gives you the chance to see it from Zermatt which is fantastic.
In the town there is plenty of bars and restaurants all reasonably priced, overall we had great holiday and would recommend this resort a 9 out of 10.

Overall nice high resort with good conditions and well maintained pistes and lifts, 2.5 days is enough for the resort then add on zermatt pass but weather can prevent getting over pass.

Went from the 18-23rd of December, so early season. Snow was far better than expected, lots of apres had started opening and was drawing a decent crowd when we visited. People were lovely, bar staff, ski hire staff, everyone in the town. Went over to Zermatt when the lifts allowed for a day, which was incredible views and an awesome experience ticking off the highest skiable point in Europe from the bucket list!!

Great resort for intermediates. We went in December and going so early in the season definitely affected the experience but we will had a really good time.

Positives
Very friendly resort
Great food and drink options
Good value
Link to Zermatt

Downsides
Not all runs open and snowparks were not complete early season.
High winds closed whole resort one day.

My best tip is don't buy a week pass and just buy one day at a time. We bought a 6 day pass but then upgraded to an international pass for one day to visit Zermatt and also had one day that the lifts were closed. At the end of the week we worked out we would have saved money by just buying one day at a time.

Great range of options on a big field with amazing views of the Matterhorn. Only down side is the wind and the impact on which lifts are open. There are other nearby options though if wind becomes a big issue.

Excellent views, top food and drink. Apres quiet on some days. No real night life. Great hospitality. Lifts were a bit outdated and slow. Accommodation was hard to get but we booked last minute. Slopes were well maintained.

One of the best places for miles of lovely cruising pistes, harder stuff available over the Swiss side in Zermatt if you want and much cheaper way of skiing Zermatt. Generally better snow conditions Italian side than Swiss too. Amazing on mountain food along with great restaurants in the village. Really great and want to go back!

if you want the glam and class of Zermatt without the price point then look no further than the fantastic Cervinia.

This Italian delightful has charm, beautiful landscapes and great skiing. There is a load of piste to ski and you certainly wont get bored with the array of bars on offer, including Happys and Love.

The food options are great and its all quite affordable, you cant go wrong here. If you prefer off piste then hop on the zermatt link to find an abundance. Zermatt oozes wealth and Italian lift infrastructure of Cervinia is somewhat lacking by comparison. You will likely find yourself splitting your time equally between both. Careful though! The taxi back from Zermatt will cost you the price of your trip so dont miss that final lift back!

Lovely village, amazingly friendly staff, i'm here now on the 17th December and it is SO quiet. Like minimal wait time, maximum ski time! Everyone ive spoken to has been lovely and the runs are great for long, winding carves with an excellent view of the Matterhorn!

Absolute great resort, been four times in the last ten years and it seems
To get better every time. Great places to eat on and off the mountain with brilliant apres bars. Theres also other activities to in the resort which makes it better for people who dont like to ski or snowboard as much.

Would definitely recommend

Cervinia was a great ski area with slopes for all abilities. Being able to ski to Zermatt was another world. Only down side were the high winds stopping the international connection more often than not. Beer and food was more than reasonable for a high altitude resort. Stayed at Cristallo Valtur which was top notch hotel with food out of this world. Bit of a walk from town up a steep hill but taxis at the bottom if needed. Would definitely go back.

Cervinia is great for scenic skiing around the Matterhorn and over to Zermatt. The only drawback is when the wind gets up and the link to Zermatt is closed which then restricts the runs considerably. Experienced this last season and therefore it was a very frustrating week only having a few runs to do! Cervinia has however, some great runs but off piste is limited. We were lucky to ski Zermatt on day 2!! The big drawback is now the cost of a ski pass - it is very expensive!

With beautiful undulating groomed runs for maximum speed and turn efficiency this is a jewel of a resort connected to Zermat for the ultimate ski holiday. Unlike North American resorts youll find some of the best dining options and variety on the hill. If Italians know anything its the importance of a good long aprés until sunset with many of the bars offering free snacks while you sip on bottle after bottle. The off piste is easily accessible and challenging. Prepare for high altitude dry powder, rocky terrain and steep slopes. These runs are truly designed to really hone in on your carving efficiency and speed. The gradient and pitch are perfect for locking in long arcs. Many of the instructors are former racers who specialize in getting you to push your ski edges to their limits.

Fantastic views and good snow due to high altitude.
Best for intermediate and expert skiers with a variety of runs and plenty of vertical drop.
Italian side nicer than Swiss and much better value.
Good mountain restaurants on the Italian side.
Parking can be a problem and taking the lift from Valtournanche is a good way to access.
