Top tip: make sure you get a three valleys lift pass to enable you to explore the other two valleys as there is great skiing there
Val Thorens is situated in the Three Valleys which is the largest skiable area of any resort in the world! Enabling you to traverse great distances and back provided the weather is good enough which offers some fantastic exploring and adventurous opportunities!
Its one of my favourite places to ski in the world and have recently been find myself returning more and more frequently.
The bars are quite student/ski season friendly but not really anywhere for a nice cocktail- that I have found!
Great night out in Malaysia !!
But while the skiing is superb, it often feels as if the main attraction of the resort is its legendary après-ski and nightlife. Val Thorens has acquired a reputation as the party capital of the Alps, and it is clear that many visitors come as much for the atmosphere as for the slopes. Bars like La Folie Douce offer a special combination of mountain views and daytime raucous parties with live DJs, dancing on tables, and champagne showers all but expected. Then comes the evening, at which time the energy shifts to clubs like Malaysia-one of the biggest nightclubs in the Alps-parties go into the early morning hours.
Back to the lively atmosphere is related-the darker side of having a place, which might just not be every body's cup of tea; to families and to anyone just loving a quiet holiday in the mountains, it could overloading-the whole Val Thorens' scene. That said, if ever you want this kind of place where you do ski hard every day and yet party harder after sundown, then Val Thorens really is tough to beat. Do expect some hangovers on the mountain first thing in the morning, of course!
