Really nice ski zones, slightly pricey for food and accommodation otherwise great. Lots of drinking venues and a nice spa / swim area, ski lifts mostly efficient.

Val Thorens sits at 2300 meters making it the highest ski resort in the alps. Alongside it being a high town, the 3 main areas of skiing are all located above 3000m. This resort is widely known for a number of incredible features across its 150km of snowy runs. It has time and time again won the award (world ski awards) for the worlds best ski resort (2013,14,16,17,18,19). Open from late November to early May, the height of this resort ensures the locals and travelers alike can enjoy a large number of months on the snow. There are 11 ski schools in VT itself so this gives lots of options for finding the right kind of tuition for your ability and language. One of the highlights for tourists in Vt is the huge number of incredible venues to stop at along the runs for food and drink. Hosting 2 of the biggest aprés ski bars in the alps, bar 360 and Folloe Douce, you can find the exact vibe you are hoping for when it comes to the afternoon beers and tunes. If you are looking for afternoon sunshine, loud/vibrant music, the best wines and some potential champagne sprayed in your face then Folie douche is your spot. Be aware that the ski down is much more technical from Follie than Bar 360. Over in the mellow ski corner of bar 360, the sunshine dips a little earlier, however the vibes are strong. If you care less for expensive champagne and the colourful dancers, this is your place. With a fantastic production team and amazing bar staff, bar 360 hosts some of the best nights in the alps. When the light fades and everyone skis home, the night certainly does not fail. There are a huge selection of restaurants and bars in town to keep you busy after you have skied directly to your accommodation location. Smithys is a fantastic place to check out for music and Cafe snesko is the place to get loose and dance on tables into the later night. Once you have finished with the bars, why not check out Malaysia which is the 2nd largest club now in the alps. All round, VT is a little more expensive than other areas in the alps, but you pay to be a part of one of the most exciting places right now in the alps. With connections to the three valleys this resort has everything for every kind of skier. Even If youre not wanting to travel between the valleys there is still an over whelming amount of piste and off-piste slopes. The high altitude ensured that all slopes had fresh snow constantly but some runs can get icy in the evenings. The resort lies above the tree line therefore if you like skiing between trees that can only be achieved by skiing between the three valleys. The apres ski is the best in the world with live djs at bar 360 and folie douce which stay open until the sun sets and many other bars, pubs and clubs in town that keep the party going all the way through the night.

Val thorens is one of my favourite ski resorts, having frequented the high-altitude town in 2021, 22 & 24.
Although the resort itself has a medium variety of slopes for all levels, the true experience begins with the 3 valleys ski pass which is the largest * linked ski area in the world. You have access to beautiful resorts of meribel & courchevel which in turns gives you access to skiing between trees - something you will not find in Val Thorens.
Not the prettiest but the town has everything to offer, from lovely traditional restaurants to late night bars serving young individuals to the more upmarket crowd.
I recommend the red fox pub for a hidden gem.
Accommodation wise you can select from various options ranging from your standard studio alcove apartment to large deluxe apartments.
Off-piste is not the best in France but head over to meribel and this issue disappears.

Spent my ski season here and would do it all again at the same resort. Amazing resort with plenty of runs for a variety of experiences. Great apres at folix doux or bar 360. Frog and roast beef, cafe snesko, etc for night out. Plenty of places to eat.

Beautiful resort so much brilliant skiing available especially with the 3 valleys lift pass the apres is unmatched from a remarkable folie to 360 is everything you need everywhere is easily accessible perfect conditions due to the height of the resort basically always guaranteed snow, as a snowboarder if leaving Val thorens to head over to courchavel you will need to gather a lot of speed as to get up the other side of the mountain is the rope lift so if you do not have enough speed you will either need an amazing friend of to unbind and push yourself

Val thorens was my first ski/snowboarding holiday. I went with a group of friends from university and spent the majority of the first day falling on my backside. However, the prospect of the amazing apres events, I kept getting up and going. Val thorens has a huge variety of events and things to do, ranging from igloo raves and apres to bowling with family. On most runs you will find restaurants with a large selection of food types where u can indulge in pizza, burgers and alcoholic drinks to help me forget about the pain from falling over. There are loads of different ski runs with plenty of green and blues for new snowboarders like myself, and by the end of the week I was flying down the red runs and loving it. Also to mention the natural beauty of Val thorens is not to be forgotten. I will be back!

The amount of runs to ski is unbelievable if you have the 3 valleys pass, you rarely have to ski the same route twice. Also Ive found it best to stay in a hotel/apartment at the bottom of town as it is a lot easier to get back to from the bars on the slopes (especially from the slopes to the right of the town).

Massive selection of runs to do good for a beginner and an experts. The park is excellent too a range of jumps big and small for everyone to learn and advance. Also lots of rails from simple to expert.
