What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Great range of runs for intermediate level, you’ll never get bored! More experienced skiers in the group also loved the resort. Public pool and spa was full on white out day so perhaps factor this into your accommodation options if this is important to you.

This resort, the highest in the world and just 1 part of Les Trois Vallées is purely something special. It has a bit of everything - beginner runs, snow parks, long reds, icy blacks, quiet slopes at one end, and loads of non-ski activities, including for kids. My favourite place to ski in the world!

Great resort - large, lively, great range of runs. A week is long enough to explore the resort if you’re quick, care should be taken to not get stuck in the wrong valley.

Val thoren had a ton of ski runs that ranged from easy to pretty hard. The off piste was probably the best thing and it was very easily accessible. Most off piste runs were just slightly off the groomers and the snow was always so good first thing in the morning. The lifts were super efficient and I spent 2x the Time on the runs vs on the lifts

Highly recommend. Spent last Christmas skiing here and the snow quality was excellent for the holiday season. The slopes were in top-tier condition, matched only by the excellent food options available.

The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming thanks to the friendly people and staff. It's the perfect spot for a winter getaway.

Val Thorens is an amazing family friendly resort with some lovely runs. Being part of the three valleys, with the correct ski pass you can ski for miles. The apres is also fun with the classic folie douce but also 360 bar which is amazing fun as well.

Val Thorens is a fantastic place if you can cope with the cost. It is situated at a high altitude which ensures snow for decent skiing. The atmostphers is probably the best part of Val T. Everyone is in good spirits and having a good time. The food is fine for a few days but average if eating out for a week. With that being said you get over it with a cold beer in the mountains.

I really enjoyed my time at val thorens, apres was my favourite I enjoyed folie douce and 360. Not only is val thorens a large ski resort it is also within three valleys which means if you upgrade your ski pass you can also go to meribel and courchevel which is even better. There are so many runs for different levels of skiers and snowboarders and food is really good but is a bit expensive. Overall I would definitely recommend and I will be returning without a doubt.

Val Tho is my favourite resort. The lift system is great and the apres ski is the best in France in my opinion. We really enjoyed dropping over to Orelle as well and found some amazing black runs there that were really quiet and well groomed. Some pistes can be busy especially on the side where people come and go to Meribel and we had some ice on these but it was still perfectly manageable. Cable car lifts can be long and not sure we’d bother again. Probably stick with the chairs next time.
