What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Went for a week at the end of January had 2 days of ok weather. There were no big queues for lifts. Bout the weather was bad for the second year in the row just unlucky. Will give it a go next year. Also if on budget don't expect luxury accommodation :) some of apartments are experience on their own :)

Although this is a fairly expensive resort to visit it was worth every penny especially if Apre ski is your thing. An abundance of bars, restaurants and clubs to suit everyone. We were a party of 16 ranging from babies to 65 and everyone had a great time! There’s live music, of course a follie douce, sports bars with plenty of football options! The skiing was suitable for all levels, with big wide blues for the beginners, plenty of off piste for the snowboarders and the option to ski over to several other sports which meant you never really had to do the same slope twice in 1 day

With in the 3 valleys, so the miles of snow available is more than sufficient. Great piste variety, as well as off piste, if the snow is good. Great variety of food, but boking is recommended on busy weeks. Lots of drinking options to suit all age groups.

The skiing here is unreal, especially if you get the 3 valleys ski pass, you can ski so many different resorts as they all connect. A great variety of slopes so every level is catered for. The Apres is great, the igloo bars are my fave ! The town is full of places to eat for everyone’s budget which is good. May places to drink too, and even go out out !

VT is a great resort - it’s amazingly snow sure and has a fantastic range of things to do both on and off the slopes. It’s well known for its apres scene and has a great range of restaurants on and off the slope! It’s also super well connected with the 3 valleys available to explore - could not get a better ski area in europe!

I've been so many times to the Three Valleys but love Val Thorens the most. Easily accessible by train, almost all places ski in ski out. Great restaurants and loads to do in resort. Great for all abilities and the most enormous ski area at your fingertips.

Obviously skiing in the 3 valles was amazing. The views are spectacular, the snow was good. Although, we only got a little bit of fresh snow toward the end of our trip. I preferred to ski mirebel & courchevel…the runs were wider, more open blows. VT was tight and VERY busy. I wouldn’t stay there again. I would stay at one of the other 2 valles.

Have been to VT multiple times and each time it’s as good as the last. Great slopes, fantastic snow, amazing village with plenty of apres partying! Just over the top to the rest of the 3 Valleys, opening up almost unlimited terrain during a week’s holiday.

The ski resort is amazing. With the connection to meribel and courchevel you can ski new runs all the time. I stayed in the UCPA so value for money was the best you’re ever going to have. The snow in April was good for spring skiing. Folie douce was amazing, best apres ski I’ve ever been to.

The skiing was really good and being part of a larger ski area was lovely. There weren’t any tree runs due to it being so high, but you did get good quality snow and nice views. The resort was very purpose built and didn’t have much mountain charm. It was quite busy as well. The ice cave was a good find.
