What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

I had a great time in VT but especially the park. The park is serviced by a button lift, which keeps it fairly quiet as beginners who aren't confident choose other parks. Also, Folie Deuce is always heaps of fun for apres

Great snow sure resort due primarily due to,altitude. Note, the little talked altitude down side is the impact it can have to some peoples physiology increased heart rate, slightly harder to breath (for some!).Weather unpredictably in Jan seen several days impacted by heavy snow reducing visibility and with no points of reference (ie trees), skiing is more difficult. One day, lifts were closed and we had to get back by taxi.Overall, its a better resort for the more proficient and adventurous skier than for those that want lazy tree lined blues.

Experienced Val Thorens as part of a university society trip, . Was my first time on the mountain and it had a good range of slopes to build up my skill on. (And great apres too). An expensive resort, hotel and food wise, however the slopes definitely make up for it. Hotels provide a great ski out the door option was was extremely convenient. Recommended.

Loved the resort, but a little on the expensive side, especially for food and drinks up the mountain as you would expect. Lots of slope options and some super long runs for intermediate skiiers. Apres ski was amazing!

Excellent resort if you're looking for the best quantity and variety of slopes in the 3 Valleys! Fantastic accommodation options for groups, and you're guaranteed great snow most of the time. I'd recommend the 3 Valleys ski pass too, so you can do day Dr trips to the nearby towns of Meribel and Churchevel.

Val Thorens is fun on a budget as a young person. The clubs in the centre are decent and apres are good if you can catch and event.

I have spent the past week in Val Thorens and had a fabulous time! This was my first time skiing and I had a really great experience, there was a lot of snowfall and fresh powder days. Ski lifts were busy but efficient, it didnt take longer than 5 minutes to get onto a chair lift. There were lots of blue runs to choose from with varying difficulty which kept me busy throughout our trip! I would definitely go back to the resort as there were a lot more runs I could have attempted with more time. Lots of restaurants and bars to choose from that suited varying price ranges, and Aprés options were also great. I would definitely recommend this resort!

Val Thorens is home to the best aprés & nightlife of any ski resort. With a huge ski area to suit. Its the best place to ski & have a party in the nightclub Malaysia afterwards if you can handle both.
