What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Had 5 day beginner ski lessons at Val Thorens. The ski instructors were so friendly and helpful! And always look out for every student even when we had heavy snow weather.

Excellent resort, super extensive with the ability to ski in all of the three valleys, best apres in France, lovely town and food options. All relatively expensive but as expected given the location of the resort! A comment I would make is . The price of this is immense, VT is very expensive but for a reason.

Great skiing over a huge area. Expensive beer and not many great options for Aprés by the slopes. Lots of bars in town but incredibly expensive! Some good restaurant options if you can afford them. Not as family friendly as some other resorts such as La Plagne.Enjoyed overall but wouldnt rush back!

Val Thorens is hands down one of the best ski spots Ive been to. Being the highest resort in Europe, the snow is almost guaranteed, even late in the season, which is a huge plus. The slopes are amazingtons of variety whether youre a beginner or after some black runs and off-piste action. And the lift system? Super modern and quick, so youre not wasting time in line. The après-ski scene is wild in the best way. La Folie Douce is the place for a party, but there are plenty of laid-back spots if youre more into a quiet drink. Food-wise, theres something for everyone, from quick bites to proper sit-down meals.

Had a great time. The ski school was amazing especially for beginners. The food and service in hotels and restaurants could be better and have more varied options. The whole area of Val Thornes is unbelievably beautiful, the slopes are amazing fun, not to busy and perfect opertunities for beginners to practise and build on confidence and techniques and are able to enjoy it. As well as having very fun and technical slopes from blues up to blacks. The Apre experience is second to none, plenty of bars, pubs and clubs to choose from, all with fantastic staff and a once in a lifetime experience! The Frog (highest bar in the world) is my personal favorite, with live music, affordable drinks and a brilliant atmosphere with friendly bar staff! Can't recommend Val Thornes enough!

Came here as an absolute beginner who had only ever done one lesson on a dry slope. Found that there was only really 3 good green runs to start off on however by the end of the week was really getting used to the blue runs. Easy to get to other valleys however it is the getting back that makes it difficult sometimes. Was really enjoyable and sad the week has come to and end but so much to explore!
