What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

extremely cold! wasnt aware of how cold it would be so pack extra layers. fresh powder is gorgeous but lots of runs get super busy and icy quickly. not my favourite resort - needs better nice long blues! some reds up the top of the peaks are nice. would recommend upgrading to the 3 vallees pass for the best experience.

Val Thorens and the 3 valleys resorts are incredible. The amount of runs and chair lifts is crazy, giving all skill levels a variety of runs.

Very busy with families over new years period, making restaurants and ski lessons difficult to get last minute so youll need to book.

Apres here is also plenty of fun with options on the mountain and down in the towns!

Would highly recommend Val Thorens and a must to get the 3 Valleys lift pass to open up the other resorts and the enormous amount of runs!

One of my favourite places I've ever skied. There's an abundance of slopes, so we could easily ski all week without getting bored. Some days we even had slopes to ourselves, which I've never experienced during the school holidays. I don't think it's the most beginner friendly resort, although there were plenty of green runs for those who don't have much experience.

Val thorens is the spot. Only needed two days of ski lessons to pick up the basics and get going on greens and blues. Apres ski in 360 was unreal and some cheap food options in window venues.

Val Thorens is an excellent choice for all levels of skiing. The size of the resort, especially with the 3 valleys connection ensure that no slope is skied twice. Val Thorens sits at an altitude of 2300m and is larger than the average ski village. There is a range of hotels, resteraunts, bars and clubs to cater for all age groups and personalities. The height of the resort ensures that snow is never an issue and skiing from early December to mid spring is always possible.
