What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

I am currently skiing Tignes/Val D’Isere and this has been the most incredible trip of my life. I live in Vail, Colorado, USA. The snow is absolutely terrible this year, but even on years where it’s great, skiing doesn’t quite compare to Tignes. If you’re into mogul or tree runs, this is not the place for you. All skiing is above the tree line. The hors-piste (off groomed runs) is tremendous, with powder patches easy to find. If you’re into groomers, this is a place to come. You can go anywhere on the mountain if you have a basic understanding of skiing/snowboarding. So many food options and the apes-ski is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I’m honestly considering moving here. I have had the best time.

Great resort. A long trip together up there as had to switch vehicles, but once there, really good. Plenty of choice of runs and decent lifts.

I loved my time at Tignes for the 5 days my friends and I visited. The atmosphere was great on and off the slopes and the apres ski was amazing. As an advanced skier I really enjoyed a variety of runs and found each run of the day to be different and offer something new. I highly recommend Tignes!

Tignes is a truly amazing place to ski when the snow is good and the crowds are limited! We had a few days of sun and a few days of snow and felt like we got the best of both worlds! Amazing food and apres on the mountain, and easy to navigate the bus system! Absolutely somewhere worth your time if you are looking to travel to ski!

Pretty resort of 3 connecting villages. Great bar and food options. Decent snow conditions all season due to height of resort. Large ski area. Only downside is long transfer times (unless you fly into Chambery).

Tignes is great for all level types. Really large ski resort connecting to Val Disere and lots of different villages so you never run out of places to go/see. Endless amount of food options and fantastic apes ski (Folie and Cocoricos seemed to be most popular but there is loads more). Our group had a mix of first timers and advanced skiers and all enjoyed our trip thoroughly.

Huge resort and ski area, simply one of the best in Europe. Get the 3 valleys lift pass, it’s more than enough for a week trip.

It was the first time after many years that I got to spend Christmas on the slopes and it turned out magical. A good variety of slopes for ky level, helpful guidance, amazing apres, you have the possibility to do even three in one day, free transport, plenty of shops and restaurants at decent prizes. I's say the only negative is would a cheaper ski in n out accommodation and had better vibe in nightclubs in other reorts. That said ghe apres did their thing and didn't really needed nightclubs

Skied Tignes & Val d'Isere over the New Year.
Val d'Isere side overcrowded & dangerously busy slopes.
Too many riders going too fast & out of control.
Had a great time though :-)

Was very convenient resort with lots of different areas to explore. Multiple ski parks with lifts taking you to different mountain ranges. However only downside is that there was virtually no tree runs as it is a very open area. The clubs and town were very fun to be in.
