What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Really good resort with a huge freeride zones which is great for a snowboarders. This area is known for its high number of snow days. During our week of stay it snowed for 3 days. The resort has a convenient location, especially if you are staying in a hotel near the ski lift. Good après-ski parties, such as the open air club La Folie Douce at the top station of the La Daille gondola.

I went to Tignes last week and absolutely loved it. The skiing was great with loads of varied runs and really good snow, plus everything felt super well connected so it was easy to get around. The resort is really well laid out, lifts, accommodation, restaurants and bars are all close by which makes such a difference after a long day on the slopes.

The après ski was a real highlight too, great atmosphere, fun bars, and a really lively vibe without feeling chaotic. Overall it’s a brilliant resort with amazing skiing, great après, and a really sociable feel. I’d definitely recommend Tignes and would happily go back.

Frequent FREE buses took you around all of Tignes. Very convenient for post apres when needing to get back to accommodation. Loads of supermarkets so very easy to do cheap. Bluebird everyday (lucky timing for my group) but the slopes were bashed and maintained very well. Runs were a mix of wide and easy but also narrow and challenging.

First time at Tignes and the resort was great ( it did help that we got lucky with snow conditions and off piste). Stayed at Belambra which was good value for money being all inclusive. Coco rico was amazing for apre with live bands (preferred this to folio) piste runs were mainly all wide and all really well looked after with excellent snow. Off piste was amazing we found a perfect hidden area and rode that with a group all day until it was tracked out. Only thing I would say is it was a lot busier on the slopes than other resorts I have been too , but lift wait times weren’t any more than 3 mins.

3456 That’s all you need to remember, the height of the lift at the top of Grande Motte. You then choose between a black or red run down to the cable car, or just carry on with red or a longer gentle blue down to Val Claret.
Stay here and Espace Killy’s your oyster. 30km days will come and go, or ski 2 different off piste areas per day for a week. The original Folie Douce for Lunchtime vibes. Book your trip now!

Awesome resort. Loads of places to eat, drink, and enjoy yourselves post skiing.
Pistes are brilliant and plenty of KM to explore. Easy access to Val D'Isere for even more fun.
An absolute must to visit this resort - one of the best France has to offer.

Really enjoyable resort, with huge variety of runs as it’s so big. You can even go to Val D’Isere and the further villages. The food on the mountain is really expensive but you can find a couple restaurants which are cheap and very enjoyable food. The Apres Ski is unbeatable with big night parties and on the mountain the vibes are up with people dancing on tables and entertainment. When we went, there wasn’t too much snowfall so the off piste wasn’t the best but the sunny weather was amazing. The ESF ski school was a great option with lots of groups and very family friendly. There were lots of classes for adults too. The ski rent for the day is relatively cheap as I rented as snow board just for one day on top of skis. Overall, highly recommend if you’re looking for an active escape with big nightlife but at the same time great skiing quality slopes. Loved it and will be returning for sure!

There were a wide range of different runs for all levels, the powder on some days was really good. The apres ski is amazing with a range of different bars. Cocoricos is my favourite! Eatimg out can be quite expensive but surprisingly chips and a hot chocolate on the mountain were decently priced!

Spent an amazing week in Tignes skiing with friends and family. Good conditions on the slopes and well maintained. Stayed in Tignes le lac 2100, would advise to stay in Val Claret next time to be in a more central location as spent a lot of time in the mornings and afternoon travelling in to Val-d’Isère for lunches.

Hotel food was excellent. Rooms were a little bit on the small side but comfortable. Weather was great with plenty of snow cover so all runs were well groomed. Lessons from TDC Tignes were first class and equipment hire from Tignes Spirit Rentals was excellent.
