What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

It’s easy to get to and there is so many accomodation options.
It’s our 3rd time visiting!
The free busses get me about, when im tired out, and they run during the evening too, food is great in France , and Tignes is no exception, the lift system is modern, reliable and fast, and as for blues crusing, its a paradise. The ease of getting about on the snow, to the App on my phone telling me whats open, means your skiing in a top resort, with World class facilities. did I mention the lovely snow, at 1550m to 3456m its snow sure. So yes its my happy place, a winter wonderland with white Chocolate sprinkles on and a bit of skiing aswell.
I have been there 3 times now and each time it does not disappoint. Having stayed in Val Claret twice and Le Lac once, there is more than ample choice for restaurants, take out, apres and local shops.
Snow conditions are an always on point with the resort teams working effortlessly through the nights to ensure each morning, first runs are as crisp as the previous.
There is always plenty of off piste options to explore and a multiple choice of snow parks for all levels, along with plenty of side hits For groomer enthusiasts looking to push past short turns and carving.
Le glacier de la Grande Motte Offers incredible views with an epic wide red run which can take you all the way into Val d’Isere.
Spent Xmas 2025 there and hired a guide for a couple days to explore some of the hidden terrain gems only locals are aware of and the tour guide ‘Cocco’ did not disappoint!
Fully recommend Tignes to anyone looking for a snow sure epic ski trip.
Can’t wait to visit again!
Mix of slopes and great lifts.
Plenty of food and drink places and great apre
Tho found it difficult to get from one resort to the other at night if you apre elsewhere!
Even if it's icy there's loads of off piste you can do where there's no or minimal ice. Highly recommend.
Shame Tignes doesn't have the Val nightlife BUT it still has a decent one.
Top tip: the Grand Prix lift takes you to an amazing set of runs but the lift is pretty savage! Stand a bit further forward and let someone else take the hit… you’ll thank me later
Last time we were in the resort was 2023 but this year the full ski pass had more than doubled in price since then which was a shock. We love the resort but we’ll have to consider other options now. The pass was the most expensive part of the trip. With the full pass you go get free access to the lagoon pool at le lac but it still is very steep at its current price.
