What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Love Tignes and Val claret, some great budget places to stay but also some really nice pricey ones. So much skiing to be done and plenty of of piste areas. The glacier has some beautiful runs, and suits all

Had a great time in Tignes, lovely snow, weather, runs and people. Great for intermediate skiers like myself. The boarders in our group loved it as well and there was enough of piste for the more advanced in our group. Would highly recommend.

Great resort, the layout of the ski area in Tignes is fairly spread out. Popping over to Val D is quick and easy

Great ski resort - challenging, but fantastic selection of runs, great skiing and top apres. Bars and food won’t disappoint, and crowds were never too intense

Big open landscape for epic easy access powder days! Great hotel choices and fun apres bars to choose from. Quiet slopes in December surprisingly with plenty of terrain to choose from. High altitude means pretty much guaranteed snow coverage too.

Tignes was definitely the best resort I’ve been to! The ski instructor I had was so good! I learned to ski off piste in the pow, it was such an amazing experience. The speed ski, Follie and Cocoricos were so good! The restaurants and supermarkets in the village were great. Breakfast at The Corner, Val Claret was just sensational!!

So good!!! We had Tignes and Val D’isere lift passes so massive resort and loads of skiing to be done. We skied roughly 100km a day and did not get bored! Loved the funiculaire, and the red run right at the top!! Loved folie duce as well as lovely restaurants all around tignes and val disere and easy access around with free shuttles or taxis. Great ski school instructor too. Will definitely be returning - the slopes were quiet and massive and great weather conditions.

Just back from a week at Tignes 2100 with a group of 8. We had a fantastic time with a mixture of skiers from complete beginner to advanced. Those of us who had lessons used Oxygéne (we also all hired our equipment through them) and were very happy with our experience. The slopes were rarely too busy, and were generally very well maintained where weather conditions allowed. There were plenty of great bars around, and food options were surprisingly decent in le lac itself; we had 3 really amazing meals at a Mexican, a steakhouse, and an Asian tapas place. Foile a douce was unsurprisingly underwhelming, but cocoricos and le bollin were aprés highlights. It’s an expensive resort but it suited our needs very well.

The best apres at cocoricos! Lovely pistes with a broad range of blues and reds and some blacks in there as well. Lifts are never busy and very efficient. We stayed in a lovely ski in ski out hotel.

Cheap accom to be had in Lavochet. 8 mins walk to the Loop bar and loads places on the mountain. Snowsure and great late season resort. Wallet friendly also apart from car parking and increasing cost of ski passes

Fantastic for mixed ability and extremely easily navigable. Perfect size for 1-2 weeks exploration and great facilities in Town and nearby Val Disere. Can be a bit touristy and isn't particularly aesthetically pleasing. Off piste is very accessible but perhaps lacks variety. (Very easy or very hard).

Tignes was a good all round resort. Great range of runs, bars and ski school options. Accommodation a wide range of ski abilities.
A lot of apres bars (apart from la folie) didn't accept kids... Not ideal! Good lifts!
Would recommend private ski school options for kids as the range is huge.
