What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Tignes. Is a fabulous resort for skiing. We have always spent Christmas out there in a catered chalet in val claret.
Excellent snow as resort is high up, fabulous slopes and plenty of apres ski ( folie douce) thoroughly recommend.

The resort was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever been to, with a great number of buses coming in and out of the ski resort to for many schedule, and a great range of accommodation to fit your budget. The slopes are so well kept, and have a good amount of new snow every day over the winter season to keep everything feeling fresh. Most days had stunning views with clear skies and next to no rain, making this one of the most amazing trips ever. Highly recommend.

Tignes offers a wider variety of runs and runs very efficiently. I rarely waited more than 5-10 minutes on the busiest days. Not a ton of hotels compared to other resorts, more airbnb and Chalet style options. Off-piste is incredible and easy to reach from marked runs if you’re just getting started.

Tignes is particularly good for views, long wide runs with excellent funicular to top of glacier. We loved it. Kids more advanced and ham is also had a ball.

Went with my Dad and my Sister who have been away before, my first time and had the absolute time of my life. Some of the best fun and plenty of memories made in the area.

Great resort for the intermediate to advanced skier. Beginners would struggle or not have much variety. Some greens had moguls top of the borsat lift.

Tignes is beautiful and I had a lot of fun, would caveat that the slopes are quite steep and difficult for beginners though (I.e. some blues are more like reds).

Amazing ski schools, not many great options for beginners very limited on green run or easy blue run options for beginners, great for improvers wanting reds and blues, very expensive for food and alcohol but great for skiing.

Amazing resort with an abundance of runs to choose from for all levels. Excellent lift access across Tignes and Val D'Isere. Pistes nicely groomed, but cut up badly after a few hours due to it being a busy/popular resort. Hotel very close to the slopes, and wide selection of ski rental companies offering reasonable priced ski equipment to hire. Good apres ski availability with the always popular Cocorico and Folice Douce.

amazing resort i’ve been going multiple times a year for years! i’m obsessed. the runs are super varied, with stuff for beginners and lots of proper good skiers. not too much for free riders although it’s more that sometimes there isn’t much fresh so when i visit

Simply the best. Nowhere else compares with the variety and scale of slopes. A fabulous choice of slopes for all abilities, from wide open greens and blues up to World Cup downhill and slalom set ups for advanced skiers. Outstanding.
