What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Huge amount of skiing but wouldn’t say it’s beginner friendly as most green slopes require doing a blue slope first. Apres is incredible and so is food and bar options. The runs are very chopped up at the end of the day which again, is a beginner or apres goers nightmare. Snow at the beginning of the day is great though and it’s great for intermediate to advanced skiers with lots of options, food and fun.

This is the best ski resort I have ever skied in.
Loads of wide runs to choose from. It was a great resort to improve on and transition onto red runs.
Tignes is the friendliest French ski resort I have been to and we found everyone to be helpful and polite.
Would 100% recommend!

Where I stayed was just brilliant as it was literally a 100 meters walk from the hotel and of the late afternoon it was a ski in which was perfect. There was so much to do and so easy to read and get from place to place especially heading over to Val de sere too which we thought was fantastic good apres on the mountain perfect for beginners to advanced skiers and we will be returning there next year.

Very good resort with a large and varied ski area. With the 4 different parts (Val Claret, Le Lac, Le Bossies and Le Breveart) it gives options for family, couples or group of friends. Brilliant resort with lots of bars and restaurants

This is a resort mostly for advanced skiers. There are plenty of challenging slopes that they can enjoy. Very well organised, good ski lift interconnections, very nice apres-ski on the pistes and few famous bars mainly in Val d’Izer area…
Plenty of snow this year.

Great snow and great variety of runs for all levels. Resort is tired. Eating out lacked variety. Great links to local resort and bus back option if you get delayed.

Amazing variety of terrain and huge ski area. Altitude makes it very snow sure. Probably not the best for timid learners but absolutely great for anyone with even a small amount of experience. Not the most aesthetic of resorts but you're there to ski

Loved it, not as pretty as Val D’Isere but the runs connect there and Val Thorens. Amazing skiing, great for an intermediate such as myself to progress. Tignes is split over three areas, so doesn’t have a single central hub, and that can mean a bit of walking about. But it’s nice, with lots of good food options etc.

Tignes le lacs slopes were much quieter than I had expected at New Year and Lift queues were reasonable. New Year concert and fireworks were all free. Would definitely choose Tignes again for a New Year break.

Premiere Neige is a brilliant time to go. Lower parts aren't open but what is is deserted wide open pistes with no-one on them. Get the area pass to include Val d'Isere. Unfortunately need to do this independantly as tour operators don't start until later.
