What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

In terms of entertainment, Tignes had quite a few options, whether that be live music at Apres or events during the trip like club nights in Val Claret.
Food and drink in Tignes was expensive but of great quality. There are options to dine at the top of the mountains as well as in the village, both offering spectacular views. There are also multiple supermarkets at a reasonable price.
The accommodation was excellent and there were so many options in Val Claret and Le Lac which were affordable and close to ski lifts and restaurants.
Overall, an excellent location!
Great at Christmas / new year.
Apres vibe is great and buzzing.
My only negative would be how busy the pistes can be.
The naturide blacks are un pisted and offer a challenge to advanced skiers and boarders.
If you want you can also enjoy skiing the world cup face de belvedere which takes you into val d'isere.
If you want some good apres ski head to the folie douce just don't miss the lifts back to resort.
Loved the wide variety of runs, great lift options and a large area to ski.
Will definately return
Lively Aprés scene with options for happy hour drinks and food.
Can easily spend a week exporting the ski area and finding powder runs off-piste when the snow is good.
Do note that when there hasn't been fresh snow, crowds can cause groomed runs to be worn down. Warmer weather will also bring icy conditions.
Overall had an excellent time!
Early mornings a littel icy and late afternoons rather slushy, but inbetween absolutely wonderful conditions. Overnight snow meant that there was plenty of fresh snow on and off piste, but by 10am the sun was out and a jacket was optional. A lot of accomodation and shops had closed up for the season, so the slopes were fairly clear. Some areas were close and a little planning was needed to make sure that there were lifts open to get you back, but it was still possible to ski across to Val D'Isere without needing a taxi for the return journey.
Evenings were rather quiet with a lack of people and most restauarnts closed, but overall a brilliant weekend.
